Not a band but i wanted to pursue singing, but then i got scared and stopped. I love smashing pumpkins, Especially that song Tonight one of my fav's although they have a lot of really good ones! I also like Green Day and Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd and Rolling Stones and The Beatles oh wow there are so many i cant even think of them right now!

"I can't get No Satisfaction, I cant get No, No no no!"

I hate the Smashing Pumpkins along with almost all other modern rock (though apparently I look like Billy;)). I am happy with my blues/jazz band.

how many smashing pumpkins songs have you heard? just the ones on the radio? where is all the hatred coming from, lol
(...yes there is not much "art" in the two chords that they play, but there sure is a lot of feeling!)

No I have heard entire albums because a friend of mine tried to turn me on to them. There were one or two songs that I thought were acceptable back when I actually listened to modern rock, but that is all done and gone.

I'd call it rock classique I guess (as opposed to classic rock)...
since I was raised playing classical music, and it's only now that I've been TRYING to give it an "audioslave" twist.
but I haven't really composed full pieces to know what exactly is goin on.
so...
nna, I'm not all that. but I wouldn't mind trying.

Great we'll have three singers! Lotus, me and Adam and Aphrodit3 can be the drummer and Arvest do you wanna be the guitarist or the pianist? Now all we need is the tambarine person! Actually we can have 2 singers Adam and lotus and I'll be the band manager!

Actually I am a drummer.

And I will not be part of this nonsense anyway.

Thank you, Whitelotus.

Do you really play?

I've always wanted to play drums but my parents insisted that it's not a "girl's instrument" and they made me play the flute instead. Not that I'm complaining...I've enjoyed it. Having said that, do you know anyone who is willing to teach? I'll pay for lessons (assuming the price is reasonable).

don't listen to them!!! it's totally ok for a girl to play the drums. hell, I do! I'm not very good at it, mainly because my parents don't believe in lessons, they say if I were a real musician I would learn myself, and they would never pay for a lesson. I finally found a practice room in college and taught myself. Learning the drums is the funnest thing in the world, especially if you're into cognitive science.

my recommendation: find a practice room, or better yet buy a drum set (you can probably get one cheap from the recycler) if worse comes to worse, go to guitar center or a store of the same sort where you can play on the displays!

then again you might want to ask Arvestaked, being a real drummer and all :)

Terri Lyne Carrington is a phenomenal jazz drummer.

Also there is a jazz band I've seen play in a jazz club in Sherman Oaks that is all women and is not bad. The drummer knows what she's doing.

If you are willing to take lessons and you are serious:

Contact him. He is very good. And very reasonable. He is excited about teaching which is very important and has been doing it for a long time. He is on staff at the Musician's Institute.
