any one listen to his music?
he is absolutely amazing.
what a brilliant writer, composer , performer and musician
just listen to his lyrics, you will melt..... :)
and his melodies! they are to die for , true armenian melodies, and soul
its a combination of classic rock and metal with acoustic stuff, soul wrenching lyrics, armenian melodies, haunting vocals.
its not music, its an experiance
i suggest you listen to his music, as well as his old band from armenian, the Apostles

Yes, I like Meschian a lot. The only thing I have to reproach is that many of his songs tend to have the same term repeated over and over. Like "imazdazurg", and..well....akh, I had so many other examples in my head, which all disappeared. Very good music nonetheless.
I used to have some of his lyrics as my signature. I think it was "yerb chga varogh kutane, mi badjar hani yezane. Nra el morti, hangsdanas" from "mi gootse yes khent em".
And were the Apostles the ones that sung "yev ayndegh voch vok aylevs indz chi sbasoom"? Or was that another group of the same era?

hmm im not sure, i have to go listen to the music to remember.
i just found all my old meschian tapes this week, and i started listening to them again. I used to listen to them a great deal when i was a little girl. So it feels good to listen to it again. Brings back a lot of good memories, and a lot of sad ones.
have you ever been to his concerts? I never missed one he gave in Los Angeles, and i wont ever miss one if he gives them again.
its such a amazing concert experiance.
I remember he had his ' last concert' in the 90s. And then he came back and gave another ' last concert' at the kodak again LOL
when will he make up his mind?
anyway, the last one at the kodak was brilliant. Too bad he is getting old and his voice is different now, but he still kicks major vorig :D
so does his son as a guitarist .
over all very goot!

Rarely do Armenian singers give concerts in Montreal. :(
Hakherdian was supposed to come this year, but didn't because he seems to be having a lot of problems. I was really psyched about that one....Oh well.

that is the main reason why i am so grateful i live in los angeles, even with the mass idiot rabiz people here.
because i can enjoy music, concerts and experiance so many things.
that stinks that hardly any armenian entertainers come up there. Have you ever thought of coming down for an important concert ? If i really really wanted to see someone , i would probibly find a means to go see them by traveling, but thats if you have mulah and such :)

Well, mulah isn't my strongest point :). If it were in NY or Boston, I might consider it, but LA would take way too much time. If I were to go all the way to LA to see a concert, I'd just take the extra step and go to Armenia. I actually regret not going to Boston to see Gor Mkhitarian and Lilit Pipoyan earlier this year, but it's always hard at 17 ;).
As for Montreal, it's also very rich on culture....just not on the Armenian side.

well of course, but i was talking about the concert scene in la.
all major tours and concerts must be held in la, so its a major advantage for those living in the area :)

I remember listening to Apostles music first time when I was a kid in early 70's. I borrowed the tape from my friend who's sister paid 27 roubles (the average salary back then was 200 roubles) to have their records on the tape from musical studio. So I turned on my old tape recorder and there was Ureir Astvats... It was amazing.
There were also those stories going around about their so called candle concert, when KGB agents cut off the electricity to stop the concert and the audience lit some candles and Apostoles were keep playing "unplugged".

He has set the bar really high, don't you think?
4 Records- over 4 hours of music published in his name and each song a xxxel.
Not to mention a film score, musical play score "The Canibal", first Armenian Rock Requimem...
How do you top that???
