I go to the most depressing, and boring school, which is full of big ugly cats, and stupid little squirrels, and a lot of trees. Damn place looks like a forest. And to top it all off, the people are ugly! :crying:

By the way, I'm currently at Long Beach City College. Decent enough place. I'll be transferring next year, but I'm not too sure where just yet. I was thinking of Reed College or Occidental College. Of couse, my top choice will always be Amherst, but it's basically impossible to transfer there.

I think I've heard that school mentioned on the physics forums. It seems to have a very good reputation. I know nothing about Canadian universities, by the way. I considered transferring to UBC just so I could be in Vancouver, but it's too difficult to do from a US school.

xBaron Dants

Never been to Vancouver, but it sure sounds like a cool place. Perfect mix of big city and camping destinations.

McGill does have a pretty good reputation. Definitely the best rep in Montreal anyways.

Oh well, in half a year, so many things will change that whatever answer I give now will probably be wrong (though I'm pretty confident about my choices now).

CSUN... and despite how bad the business college is, and the liberals have litterally taken over and protest against ROCP peeps and yell at them and call them "baby killers" and such stupidity like that... the engineering department is a very nicely accredited college.. and infact is a very good place to get hands on learning etc.. we have nice labs and are funded very nicely by large businesses that look to CSUN for new fresh engineers who they can work to death once out of college and working on there masters.. anywho!!!!

I should mention i only applied to a private engineering university in colorado state.. it was called "CSM" and was 2 years ago in the top 5 highest accredited engineering universities in the country.. i was accepted and half my tuition was supported by the school.. so i only had to come up with 13 grand.. which was possible.. but.. ofcourse being armo and having armo parents made the whole thing extremely difficult.. so instead of the endless arguements.. i decided to stay in state.. and northridge was the best shot for late enrollment.. .. ok now im tired of taling about this.. lol :)

I'm currently a production coordinatorfor one of the leading prop placement companies in the entertainment industry.

I'm constantly in talks with all the primetime television show producers, prop masters, costume designers, and set dressers. Additionally, I get to attend celeb events whenever our company has one. I've recently met Mark Whalberg, Melanie Griffith, James Woods, Ray Romano, Kevin James, and many others.

I graduated from usc a year and a half ago and now I work as an associate research scientist in molecular biology at Caltech. I need to be in 'work 18-20 hours a day mode' rather than 'school mode' if and when I go back to get my phd because it requires less 'studying' and more actual hands on research and experimentation....

People were telling me to go into Pharm sales right after graduation, when I was at a loss as to what to do next. It is a good money-maker and it's great because you get to travel around to wherever the next company/medical clinic it is you're selling to. The dolwnside, I think, is the pushing/selling of product. I don't think i'd be very good at selling something. It takes a certain charisma to get people to buy something from you and while I can be personable, I'm not a big seller.

The research specifics are confidential, of course, but the main project is quite public. Alliance for Cellular Signaling: basically I spend hours upon hours cloning DNA and inserting and removing genes in the cellular signaling pathway (cell 'communication' pathway) to determine how cells transmit information to eachother and 'talk' through signaling...

Yes, the Pharm sales job definately has its perks. Free company car/insurance/gas, lunch/dinner budget is nice. It is a very difficult industry to get into because they want previous business-business sales experience. I'm used to be cause ive been in the med industry among reps for the past 7 years. As for pushing the medications, its a combo of luck and selling skill. A great deal of your success depends on your territory, and the medications, (side affects, insurance coverage).

As for your project, its impressive. I was a bio major all the way to my junior year, and in the end I just could not picture myself doing what you do for the rest of my life. I like the whole communications, relationship, teamwork, aspect of business. :)

I was pre-med until the beginning of my junior year. I was all ready to take the MCATs and apply to med school but, much to the disappointment of my advisor, I decided I loved working in the lab (I worked in the neuroscience dept. at that time) and so I just continued as a bio major and have been working in a lab since I graduated. The great part of this assignment is that we're working with several universities (ucsf, stanford, utsouthwestern, ucsd, etc) so there are lots of meetings and sharing of data and interaction with others, not just straight lab work. Anyway I think it's great. :)

Oh how I wish they would backtrack and pay loans for courses past! lol. Unfortunately, I have to pay all that. :) I meant they pay if I take classes now.

Bring your Siggie to work day? I'll have to look that up. :) I'll take photographs in return for being so nice. I like to have photos people have taken and frame them up black and white. Ask mr D he knows. :)

I'm taking a class right now and I'm developing and printing my own stuff. I can make you some prints.
Do you have a prefered subject matter?

Not really classes plural. I took a "Photography as Art" class almost 3 years ago where we shot e-6. I've transfered over to digital, but I was really curious about darkroom procedure, so I'm just taking a Photo I (Beginning Photo) now. I've already decided to take the advanced class next semester.

I'm not majoring in Art or Photography. Photography is just a hobby of mine and I'd been neglecting it recently because of my workload. So, this semester when I needed some extra units to stay fulltime. I decided to take a class.

You're not into Photography are you? You'd be in the Bio building basement rather than the Art Building otherwise. :p

Well no I'm not into photography. I really like it a lot. But I'm Majoring in Art. So I'm doing a lot of paintings and printmakings. Thats what I'm focusing on.

And thats great. Im glad you like photography. I think its very interesting. I wish I could take a class. But I would be wasting time, cause then I wouldnt be able to take any of my paintings or printmaking classes, which I love to death. And I dont get out of the Art department, unless I get hungry or just burned out. hehe...

I have a BA in Fine Arts/Fashion Design and Merchandising from AIU...a design school in Los Angeles...I wanted my name on everyones butt like Calvin Kleins! =)

but alas, the real world took over...I worked as an assistant designer to a very well known russian designer but had to leave the company for personal reasons. Right now I insure high value homes and properties...and I'll be starting my own agency pretty soon. So life turned out ok after all...even though one day I'd like to pursue the fashion thing.

I used to be a merchandiser - not for clothing apparel, though. How is fashion design considered a fine art? Seems to me like an applied art. Whatever.

Does anyone, anyone at all go to UC Davis? There aren't that many Armenians there. Although, I think I should really join the Armenian Student Association.

Anyway, I need to spend more time with my brethren. :)

I could have sworn I posted in this thread.

I go to Los Angeles City College. I'm waiting to turn in my applications for film school so I can finally leave this place.

I must say, the film and theatre departments at LACC are amazing.
