For those of you who are college students in the San Fernando valley are enrolled at LAVC, I urge you guys to take the "History 46 - Armenian History" class with professor Shemessian in the fall semester. The class needs at least 15 students to remain open and it's definately a worth while class to take (and the professor is great) so if you're free on TTh evenings, then please consider signing up. I took the class last semester, I showed up the first day, there was no teacher, and only three students. Turned out the class had been cancelled because very few had enrolled.
But then I heard that Shemessian is a freak.

Shemessian is cool! And that's exactly it, not enough people enrolled, which is why I'm promoting it.

I don't think there's going to be many students this time either. I spoke to the woman in charge of the History Dep., and she said that they had tried it twice in previous semesters, and the same thing had happened, so they tried changing the times the classes were given, thinking that it may be because the time was inconvenient. Yet again, very few enrolled.

I don't know if GCC still offers it.... but "Armenian Diaspora Studies" was really a great class I took.
It taught you about where we came from (but just a little) and focused mainly on how the lives of the Armenians in the Diaspora have an impact on Armenian and vice versa and how the Armenian Diaspora is looked upon throughout the many countries in the world.
I think professor Levon Marashlian teaches it and he provides many videos, slides, and pictures for you to see of how the Diaspora has evolved since the early seventies.
It was really educational and entertaining.
Lav... didn't mean to solicit this class..... but I figured it might be in the right thread. :p
If you want the history aspect, then yea... check out the class Hyejinx is talkin about.

Valley's full of Armenians too you know. Which is odd.. I just figured it would be full of xxxs. Where did all the Armenians come from? They're all from that one apartment building across from Grant...

Yea.... I've been there before. It's coool and all, but it isn't like Glendale.. trust me... ive lived in the valley for more than 19 years.
I mean... I'm anti-Glendale, but if it's one thing I like about it is the surplus of Armenian women in one city.
*With an evil grin*
Ohhh... the possibilities... Muahahahahahaa. :p

You're wasting your time. As you should know, they all stay virgins until married.

If the class is in the evening, I'll be signing up for it and bringing a friend. How come it's not in the schedule of classes?
edit: oops. Nevermind. I was looking at the Winter schedule.

As for the person who said no one showed up to the class, I broght that up to the teacher and he says that to his knowledge that's never happened before, he's having the class right now and has taught it many times.

...We're talking about Valley College?
Yes, it has happened. If I'm not mistaken, it was fall of 03...I think.
The class was held in the Campus Center Building.

I'm guessing not many enroll because of the historical period chosen. The most depressing and degrading period in Armenian history.
