Vanush is not Armenian. Unless your name is Van, there is nothing Armenian about it.

Vanush is indeed Armenian, although i dont know the meaning, you could try searching on google for databases and meanings of Armenian names.

How did it happen that you got an Armenian name?

I know about three or four Vanoosh's alone, Vanoosh is an Armenian name.

However, if you're indian, the name might be derivitive of the hindu spirit (god?) Vishnu

Yea, which is all the proof I need for ME to be convinced it's an Armenian name... which, by the way is all that matters. If you're not convinced, please go out and find proof for yourself.

Are you telling us that you know two people with the name Vanoosh (spelled just like that) on their birth certificates?

I dunno, I've never looked at their birth certificates. How many birth certificates of your family and friends have you ever looked at? It's a stupid question, and why you're so obsessed with proving me wrong on this rather trivial matter amazes me. But, like I stated before, I know many Vanooshs, including my adorable little nephew Vanushik :)

Came to think of it.. even though I've never actually seen his birth certificate, I was there in the hospital when he was born and named. Does that suffice?

Hey, I'm not trying to prove you wrong and it's not a stupid question. I'm just saying that they may be called Vanush, but their real name is something else, like Van or something. You know? Armos tend to do that with names. They add -oosh or -ik, etc, to names.

So this may go against this new guy's claim that his name is Armenian. However, if your nephew's name is Vanush, then hey, you're right.

Hey my first name is vanush

Im Indian and my name is armenian, i am wondering what my name means?

I have a friend whose Indian too and her last name ends with -ian and people always ask her if she is Armenian, she did some research to figure out why people would think that and I believe, if I'm not mistaken, she found out that there were some Armenians that had immigrated to India. i thought that was kind of interesting
