Cher born 5/20/46 in El Centro,California has had a career that has lasted over forty years of fame,first as a singer,then as a TV comedian and later,as a mature talented actress. Being a lifetime fan there has always been a trivial question that I've had about her. Was her actual birth surname Sarkisian or Sarkasian? After doing research,I have found many contradictions to which is correct. Can anybody out there answer this?

Legally changed her name from "Cherilyn Sarkisian LaPierre Bono Allman" to simply "Cher."

I remember that Cher came to Armenia during the earthquake of '88 and gave to some charities and adopted a child. I don't know if she ever raised this child or what?
