These are the only real tried and true Armenian stereotypes.
Loud, excitable, best toast givers bar none, a little bit crazy (or as we say khangarvats), decent drunks (unless older generation, then awesome drunks), like to scream at each other (even relatives .. err especially relatives)

But why is it that everytime I see an older Armenian male, above 30s, is always smoking?

I thought the number one stereotype is that the males are hung so well, they make horses cry with jealousy. ...That one's true, right?

without a doubt
Here are the stereotypes I've heard over the years:
-handle alcohol well
-loud
-short temper
-a little crazy (understatement in some cases)
-lots of smoking
-a couple of asian girls have said they've noticed above average endowment, but then again they're asian girls
-rich

-handle alcohol well me
-loud yeah iam a bit loud

-a little crazy (understatement in some cases) i joined the army?
-lots of smoking all the time
-a couple of asian girls have said they've noticed above average endowment, but then again they're asian girls of course
-rich nope :crying:
Its funny, all those are true...
besides the rich thing.
Just most armenians, i'm a coffee addict and the dentist has warned me about my teeth although i'm too young. I feel great sympathy for drug addicts! :D
how can i get rid of that? have you got some tips?
i'm a heavy tea-drinker as well.
btw: Is that stereotype related to money really true? i don't earn much money:(

LMAO
There was this Turkish Iranian guy a few years ago that was in some of the same classes as I was in college. He was a really nice guy but not necessarily the brightest. I felt sorry for him so I let him copy my homeworks a few times because it was a lot easier than trying to explain it to him. Well, this one time, he copied my homework in one of the electrical engineering classes and I ended up getting 9/10 while he got 2/10.
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry or be shocked or worried or what. I couldn't believe it!
We are surley smart but most of the time use it in a wrong and sometimes dishonest way!

kinda. For me jarpig does not have a good connotation, most of those who call themselves jarpig are charlatans!
Btw, i believe armenians of Armenia are defenitely the smartest.

Because we are Jarbig we still exist, nothing’s wrong to be Jarbig, that goes with being smart. Instead of looking only to our bad qualities try to acknowledge our good ones and I assure you they are much more and it will make you feel good.

Same here. The so-called stereotypes presented here by Armeniankid are BS. I suggest Armeniankid to meet spome real Armenians before he makes up his mind. Most of my Armenians friends, including those from Armenia, don't smoke. They preffer to drink tea, and they are mostly well-off - but not filthy rich.
Armenian stereotypes, in my opinion:
Unruly
Independent
Individualistic
Shrewed
Talented
Clever
Resilient
Pysically strong
Cynical
Complex
Revengeful
Never forgets
Loves to talk
Loves life
Loves to party
Loves khorovats
Loves to drink
Loves with a pasion
Hates with a passion
Loyal to friends and family - but, not to his wife.

And these characteristics, along with Christianity, are what has helped us survive thousands or years of man-made and natural disasters.

I don’t know if being jarbig has contributed to our existence or not but I don’t think so!(in my opinion being jarbig is different from being smart)
We are definitely smart and unfortunately that makes us a bit lazy!
Not only my grandparents have told me that we are smart but I’ve heard this a million times from my Persian friends: they always ask me: what 's your secret? ( they know Armenians of being so skilful and talented) I always tell them if you wanna be smart like us, you have to try that pig only once in your life!:D And imagine what? they believe me! they have no humor!
But one criticism does not mean that I don’t believe in our good qualities, I’m so proud of being Armenian , but that is not gonna prevent me from criticizing roots!
Btw, we are very good musicians.

Most of your friends don’t smoke but most of the people of Armenia(starting from very early ages!) do smoke!
They do drink tea but more often coffee.
Most Armenians of Armenia are unfortunately poor. ( poor in Armenia but as soon as they get out of the country….)

I think I and many Armenians I know fall into Armenians opinion of us, except maybe one trait. (The one about the wife, at least I won't admit to it)

One Armenian Steriotype
PORTUGAL PROFITS BY GYULBENKIAN INHERITANCE
Daniel Silva, correspondent of Agence France-Presse, writes from Lisbon that though Portugal does not produce oil it nevertheless profits by oil riches in the last 50 years. Those riches played a big role in development of diverse spheres of the country.
The article that The Armenian Mirror Spectator published in its August 12 issue touches upon the Galust Gyulbekian Foundation. The Foundation established in 1956 has brought the country a profit of 2 billion euros by financing a number of rehabilitation centers, the country’s philharmonic orchestra, libraries and educational establishments.
"The Foundation was a wonderful luck in the history of our country," sociologist Antonio Berton who is writing a book about the influence of the Foundation on the country said last month during the celebrations of the Foundation’s 50th anniversary.
Fleeing the Nazi occupied France at the age of 73, Gyulbenkian spent the last 13 years of his life in a hotel in Lisbon and as an expression of his gratefulness he handed down his fortune and the huge collection of art works to the country with a hope that a charity foundation will be founded. Thanks to correct handling assets initially estimated at 14 million euro rose to 3 billion that totals to 2 percent of Portugal’s GDP and makes the Foundation the 6th biggest charity organization in Europe. Among its holdings is Partex oil company that produces 13.5 million barrel of oil annually and exports it to Abu Dhabi, Angola, Algeria, Brazil, Kazakhstan and Oman. 80 percent of revenue is spent in Portugal, 20 percent in African colonies.
One of the first initiatives of the Foundation was creation of a network of "mobile libraries" that provided Portuguese regions with literature during the right-wing dictatorship in the country. The second important task was providing scholarships to students. To date, 65.000 students, including Portuguese president Anibal Cavaco Silva, benefited from the scholarship.
"I think we can never be sufficiently grateful to him for his generosity," Rui Vilar, president of the Foundation, said in an interview with JL literary journal.

You are dangerous!
OMG! Are you serious? Poor your future wife!
So you suggest to the couples not to have children so that men can do whatever they like! (poor children!) I’m confused! You are seriously encouraging me to marry a non-armenian boy. If my man is gonna cheat on me, I’m gonna definitely cheat on him as well!:D

The whole idea is that the man respects and worships the woman too much to want to do anything beyond straight sex. This is all considering the woman has a pure mind, and is not already an 'open minded' individual.
(Un)fortunately girls like that are rare especially here lovely Socal.

...which is why he'll cheat on her...
I see that nobody objects to his ideas, this might be telling me the real feelings of men (maybe those who are more honest on the issue) You men are so complicated and difficult.
so do you guys agree with his theory?
