1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Turkish Army offensive in eastern Aleppo fails again
      By News Desk - 13/01/2017

(South Front) For several weeks now, the Turkish Army has attempted to breach the Islamic State's defenses in the east Aleppo city of Al-Bab, despite heavy resistance from the aforementioned terrorist group.

As a result of an ISIS counter-attack, the Turkish Armed Forces and pro-Turkish militants retreated from the recently seized village of Suflania east of al-Bab in the Syrian province of Aleppo, marking the end of another offensive.

The attempt of Turkish forces to besiege the key ISIS-held town of al-Bab from the eastern direction has failed.

The idea to encircle al-Bab is now the key plan of Turkey-led forces that has to lead to retaking this strategic town and preventing Kurdish YPG forces from linking up the YPG-held areas in northern Syria.

Syrian General: Turkey Not Determined to Urge Terrorist Groups to End Fight

              Sat Jan 14, 2017 1:41

TEHRAN (FNA)- A Syrian army general and military expert underlined that sponsors of terrorist groups, including Turkey, are not after ending hostilities in Syria, looking at truce as a chance to regroup their mercenaries.

Brigadier General Salim Harba said that terrorist groups are not willing to adhere to ceasefire due to some reasons.

He added that most of the terrorist groups, especially those affiliated to the ISIL and Fatah al-Sham Front (previously known as the al-Nusra Front), do not believe in diplomatic solutions.

"Meantime, Turkey is not resolved to force the militant groups to end attacks on government positions," he continued.

The Syrian military expert added that ideological and organizational differences among terrorist groups is the root cause of their infighting, while "many terrorist groups believe that the will suffer heavy defeats in their future battles with the army troops and their popular allies".

He went on to say that even setting up a coalition with Fatah al-Sham will not save militants.

The Syrian military expert underlined that unlike the claims made by the backers of the terrorist groups, these groups are not competent in both field and ideological levels to take part in the Astana peace talks.

Media sources disclosed earlier this week that terrorist groups were getting ready to launch massive attack on the Syrian Army and its allies in, at least 3, provinces with the support of the Turkish intelligence service.

The Arabic language al-Akhbar reported that based on field information, Ankara-backed terrorists were developing plans in close coordination with the Turkish intelligence service to relaunch large-scale attacks on army positions in Housing Project 1070, Jam'iyat al-Zahra and Zahiyeh al-Assad in the Western part of Aleppo city.

Terrorists of al-Tukistani, deployed in two regions of al-Has and Tal (hill) al-Dhaman that overlook Khanasser-Hama road, were also readying to attack the army's defense lines and cut off the road from central provinces and Damascus to Aleppo.

The preparations made for anti-government assault were not limited to Aleppo and Idlib, and the Turkey-backed terrorists in areas near the towns of Souran, Ma'an and al-Tamanna in Northern Hama were also doing the same stationing new missile launchers, deploying more equipment and digging long trenches in the region to pave the ground for an imminent attack.

A high-ranking security source in the operations room of Syria's allies disclosed earlier this month that Turkey and al-Nusra Front have increased contacts in recent days to pressure Russia through certain joint moves in Idlib to make concessions in Astana peace talks.

The source underlined that al-Nusra Front was preparing for several attacks, ordered by Turkey, to weaken the ceasefire.

Ankara also called on the terrorists to launch different attacks on several points so that Russia would be forced to make concessions in Astana negotiations.

The source added that Turkey aimed to persuade the terrorists to show hostile behavior towards the Syrian army to pressure Russia and find a place for al-Nusra Front in the peace talks.

Reports said that senior Turkish military officers were deployed in Western Aleppo and Idlib and coordinate operations with al-Nusra commanders, adding that cooperation between the ISIL and al-Nusra Front would also be witnessed in Syria in the near future. x x x x

Turks are obviously much more business minded than many Armenians, Greeks and others give them credit!

In the 19th century, businesses in Istanbul, Edirne, Izmir, Trabizon , Sivas (Sebastia) etc...(we have been told) were dominated by Greeks, J.e.w.s, Armenians, Assyrians, Bulgarians...

Suddenly in the 20th century, after Kemal got rid of everyone except the J.e.w.s, Turkish businessmen started to take charge of businesses left behind my the massacred minorities!

Did the sword-wielding Turks suddenly become transformed into smart businessmen?

Or were they already active in business, but Armenians and others prefer not to notice them?

The way I read your logic.
Give credit to the landlord from your basement dwelling to a high rise building that was forcefully taken over from your grandparents by some traveling criminal gang (we have been told) is in fact, an amazing businessman/landlord.
With all the crimes being committed in the building that is a public housing now, we should shut up and praise the “landlord” trying to attract potentially new millionaire tenants.

Yes they stole the properties of massacred minorities. But they had properties of their own too
But contrary to popular expectation, Turks eventually managed to develop them into profitable businesses

How many of the properties in Antalya were owned by minorities in 1923?
Turkish businessmen have since developed Antalya into a top class vacation resort. It has been estimated that 50,000 Armenians from Armenia vacation there too!

Turks are businessmen for sh I t. Up untill 80's they have been sitting on mounts of historical and geographical marvels. Doing nothing but play with their own excrement and destroying all this wealth like monkeys in fruit bar.
It is the flow of European tourists and money that made Antalya to what it is. Europe simply needs turkeys geography for vacationing and play. Being tied with west so much, Turks never could use their assets. Yugoslavian and Balkan coasts never been peacefull enough ( and with Warsaw Pact control).
French Riviera and Italian coast too expansive.
There was only Greece and Turkey for year around tourism. Greeks being too lazy, greedy and shrewd, could not do much better in business and not minded enough(still, Greeks managed way ahead of Turks).
Turks being too backward untill mid 80's.
Suffice to say that Turkish Mediterranean coast in up to mid 70's had no more European visitors than pre WWI.
If Turks were remotely disciplined, progressive and business minded, Turkey would be #1 ahead of French Riviera, Swiss alps, Greek historic and cultural heritage, food, tourism and cultural center in 19th century.
Even now, they have not utilized even a portion of what they got.
Most of wealth in turkey is still used as barns or village utility or destroyed.
It Turks were 10% of Germans, Turkey would be the heart of region. As it has been up untill Ottoman Empire.
What business people? Of the opportunities Turks posses, which other nations struggle to create, turks have wasted all and what they have now is only because Europe puts pressure of business growth after all.
What others achieve by long struggle, Turks routinely find in their lap. Like Russia gas line deal.
