1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

I wonder if this is the same party Richard Giragosian was talking about last year.

The post by londontsi is a solid starting point. I like Pashinyan for a couple of different reasons:

He isn't into erratic and vague statements about dramatic change of direction. About foreign powers, about the Turks, about external issues. He very clearly lays out internal governance shortcomings that create issues and how to address them. He discusses the lack of rule of law, the lack of independence between the lawmakers, the business elite, the police that enforce those laws, and the justices that monitor that law. This leaves him in a place a lot harder to dismiss by the many nutjob "Capitalist/CIA/Je-wish/Western conspiracy" wackos of whom you get a glimpse of on this forum.

Unlike much of the opposition, he doesn't just grumble on about problems, and criticize everything about the government. He is articulate, and he very clearly explains specific issues in explicit terms, and proposes realistic step by step solutions.

he has a solid team around him, full of accomplished, educated and patriotic individuals who give him additional credential. Remember the only thing keeping the trainwreck of Dody Gago show from being a total joke was the respectable individuals he has surrounded himself with such as Oskanian.

and both through word and action he has made it very clear that this is a united organization to address the fundamental systemic issues, and that this is not about him. He patiently worked through ANC until it became obvious it was just a show for LTP and that it couldn't achieve anything meaningful. This is contrast to just about every opposition party we have had in the past 25 years except ARF, who have been a one man party, and a way for a single man to feed his ego.

I don't think he can make a massive impact immediately in 2017 and 18 elections and take power. That would take massive infrastructure and funding throughout the regions that anyone short of the likes of Dodi Gago doesn't have. But he does have the ability to become the first honest AND competent opposition party Armenia has had in a while.

I don't know what Giragosian said, but that man is a fool. I don't ever buy into the CIA/Western/NGO Funded psychobabble, but that man has come up through the US military system, and it has clearly influences his way of thinking. Its not some hidden secret plot to fool unsuspecting people, its out in the open for everyone to see. It's only natural when you come up through that military system, your entire way of thinking will programmed to exactly how that organization wants you to think. And sometimes his statements and behavior are so idiotic that its hard to believe he is being serious. It is almost like he wants to sound ridiculous

Newspaper: Armenia opposition leader to permanently settle in Eastern Turkey?

YEREVAN. – A well-informed source from Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party told Zhamanak daily that party leader and former FM Raffi Hovannisian is in Eastern Turkey (Western Armenia) for almost a month, reported the daily.

“Apparently, Hovannisian will stay in Western Armenia for a long time and possibly, even permanently reside there.

            Good.

            I hope

            1. ROA bars you from entering Armenia again takes your citizenships and passport away.
            2. Hopefully your family gets raped by a turk.
            3. Your worshippers will be dissapointed now. they will now jump on the next bandwagon like typical idiots.
            4. Mastermind of the 'Goble' plan - you should of been murdered in 1999.

Little Raffi's masters calling him??????????????????Maybe they have a new plan!

“He has numerous problems to solve there, but the priority, of course, is Western Armenia’s liberation, which is the dream of our nation”…

Notorious MP Again In Hot Water

                Sisak Gabrielian
                Հրապարակված է՝ 01.06.2015

A pro-government parliamentarian notorious for his abusive rhetoric has sparked another scandal with death threats addressed to those who “slander” Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian or members of his family.

“Those bastards are not as guilty as their patrons,” Arakel Movsisian told reporters over the weekend. “Their patrons must definitely be found and beheaded. God willing, I’ll catch and personally behead them.”

In videotaped remarks posted on the Internet, Movsisian also warned: “I urge them to stay inside their homes. If, God forbid, we catch them, they’ll definitely get raped.”

The lawmaker who is affiliated with the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) did not specify the cause or target of his fury. But it is clearly connected with a libel suit that was filed last week by Ohanian’s wife Ruzanna Khachatrian against the Yerevan daily “Hraparak.”

Khachatrian is seeking a retraction of -- but not compensatory damages for -- a recent
“Hraparak” article that linked her with the death of a well-known businessman’s son. The paper denies any wrongdoing, saying that it also cited Khachatrian’s comments on the allegations coming from an anonymous source. It has refused to publish a statement demanded by the plaintiff.

A former Defense Ministry official nicknamed “Shmays,” Movsisian has a history of verbal abuse directed at critics of President Serzh Sarkisian and his political allies. He was among HHK deputies who insulted an opposition colleague, Zaruhi Postanjian, after she put an embarrassing question to Sarkisian during a September 2013 session of the Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly.

Later in 2013, Movsisian caused a media outcry after swearing at a group of journalists who staged an unprecedented protest on the parliament floor against Armenia’s membership in the Russian-led Eurasian Economic Union. He avoided disciplinary action for those incidents.

Movsisian’s latest outburst is also unlikely to have any consequences. Parliament speaker Galust Sahakian on Monday pointedly refused to condemn it, saying that the death threats should not be understood literally. “Besides, I myself hear threats and provocations from journalists every day,” Sahakian claimed.

A pro-government parliamentarian notorious for his abusive rhetoric has sparked another scandal with death threats addressed to those who “slander” Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian or members of his family.

When is Serzh gonna grow some balls and give this family the Dodi Gago treatment instead of propping them up? It's becoming pathetic.

Another Relative Of Armenian Governor Implicated In Assault

                  Sisak Gabrielian
                  Հրապարակված է՝ 18.06.2015

A convicted murderer pardoned by President Serzh Sarkisian in 2010 has emerged as another suspect in a recent brutal attack in the Armenian town of Goris that was allegedly orchestrated by a son of Suren Khachatrian, a notorious regional governor.

The suspect, Mayis Khachatrian, is the governor’s nephew who has spent six years in prison for a murder committed in 2004. According to law-enforcement authorities, he went on the run at the weekend after being charged with involvement in last month’s severe beating of two Goris residents, the Zakarian brothers.

One of the brothers suffered a broken nose while the other lost vision in one eye. The victims say that their attackers were led by Tigran Khachatrian, a notoriously violent son of the governor of Armenia’s southeastern Syunik province. Tigran and his father deny these allegations.

Both men have been questioned by investigators as mere “witnesses” in the case. The Investigative Committee, a law-enforcement body leading the inquiry, has pressed charges instead against four other Goris men, including Mayis Khachatrian. All of them except Mayis are now under arrest.

The Armenian police announced a nationwide hunt for the governor’s nephew on Monday. They claim to have been unable to track him down so far.

In 2004, Mayis Khachatrian was convicted of killing a 30-year-old Goris man with 12 stab wounds and sentenced to 12 years in prison. He served only half of the sentence as President Sarkisian pardoned him in 2010.

Sarkisian’s office formally confirmed the pardon last week in a written reply to Zaruhi Postanjian, an outspoken opposition parliamentarian who has long accused the Syunik governor of leading a criminal clan sponsored by the authorities in Yerevan. The office gave no reasons for the clemency.

“I am convinced that had it not been for such clemency we would not have had this atmosphere of impunity,” Postanjian said on Thursday. She again charged that Suren Khachatrian and his relatives get away with violence because of their staunch loyalty to Sarkisian.

Official results of national elections held over the past decade have shown Sarkisian and his Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) garnering a higher percentage of votes in Syunik than in any other part of the country.

Suren Khachatrian and members of his extended family have a long history of violent conduct. They have held sway in the Goris area, which is part of Syunik, for the past two decades.

Khachatrian was sacked two years ago after his son Tigran and one of his bodyguards shot dead a Goris businessman in a violent dispute outside the Khachatrians’ villa. They were arrested in the immediate aftermath of the shooting only to be cleared of murder charges and set free two months later.

Law-enforcement authorities said the gunshots fired by Tigran constituted legitimate self-defense. His father was reinstated as Syunik governor a year later.

The May 2 assault on the Zakarian brothers and the course of the resulting criminal investigation only reinforced a widely held belief in Armenia that the governor’s clan enjoys immunity from prosecution.

Sona Truzian, a spokeswoman for the Investigative Committee, told RFE/RL’s Armenian service (Azatutyun.am) that the investigation has been effectively suspended because its materials have been sent to Prosecutor-General Gevorg Kostanian for examination. Kostanian requested the documents late last month ostensibly to decide whether the investigators’ reluctance to prosecute the governor’s son is justified.

Artur Sakunts, a prominent Armenian human rights activist, claimed that Kostanian is only helping the authorities cover up the latest high-profile violence in Goris. “The prosecutor-general is using his powers to once again save Suren Khachatrian and his family from prosecution,” Sakunts said.

A convicted murderer pardoned by President Serzh Sarkisian in 2010 has emerged as another suspect in a recent brutal attack in the Armenian town of Goris that was allegedly orchestrated by a son of Suren Khachatrian, a notorious regional governor.
