Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

I don't know if you're writing about the genocide or the denial of Turkey. From your questions, I think you're more concentrating on the the Turkish government's denial of the Armenian genocide. If so...

I posted an article about this a while ago, you might find that helpful regarding the Turkish denial. Here is the link.

Also, here is the letter written by the "International Association of Genocide Scholars" to Turkey asking them to recognize the genocide.
    Here is the link

We have plenty of articles posted in our "Book Reviews & Articles" part of the forum. Take a look at those.

You can also mention "Orhan Pamuk". A Turkish author who faces sentence in Turkey and has become a hate figure for speaking about the Armenian genocide. You can search his name in the web, or here is an article I posted in the forum a while ago.

Also, Cleansing of Archives is an interesting article about the destruction of the Armenian genocide related documents.

You might also want to visit the site www.twentyvoices.com. You might find some of the memories of survivors interesting. We have plenty of survivor stories in the forum. If you need more, let me know.

    I will post more later...

      Dear Schoolboy,

Here are some web links to "Turkish Denial of The Armenian Genocide"

This page gets called when the system can't find a page requested by the user.

Empowering teachers & students to think critically about history & to understand the impact of their choices.

And Here's a Quote about the Turkish Denial

"The Turkish denial [of the Armenian Genocide] is probably the foremost example of historical perversion. With a mix of academic sophistication and diplomatic thuggery -- of which we at Macquarie University have been targets -- the Turks have put both memory and history into reverse gear."

Prof. Colin Tatz, Director, Centre for Comparative Genocide Studies 1/1/1996

There are two types for denial,

      (A) Innocent Denial, when a person is ignorant about the historical facts, and belive what did the prepetrators tell him, and then repeat it ... And there are much innocent denial than one can even think... Almost all Turkish people just repeat the story that the Government tell them, they don't want to see such a crime in their history after all..

      (B) Intentional Denial, when the person know what was the facts, but try to negate it, reationalize it. This group contains the Perpetrators themselves, and their accomplecies, and proxies. Of course, these people can't refute the Genocide as a fact, all they do is to "Cast Doubt" on the facts, using twisted, fabricated, or personal attacking.

Now the most important thing you need to know about the Turkish denial of the Armenian Genocide, is it's "Reasons".

Reasons for Turkish Denial (aside from the innocent denial)

      1. They don't want the "Stegma" of Genocide to be attached to their history.
      2. If they recognize the Armenian Genocide , they would have to compensate the victims and return the Lands and homes that they confiscated after kicking out the owners (Armenians)
      3. The fear of being classifies in the same position of the Nazis.
      4. Embaressment for 90 years of lies, and propaganda machine. The lie grow bigger each year.
      5. They will have to change the whole education system, that recognize the Criminals of the Genocide as "Turkish national Heroes", and creat new factual system.
      6. The most important reason is, the Trembling of the Turkish Republic that was founded 1923. Because this republic was based on a Crime of Genocide, and "MANY" of the co-perpetrators of the Armenian Genocide, took fine offices in the New republic.

If you have any more questions about the issue, don't hesitate to ask.

If we wanted to be ignorant, couldn't we say the same thing about the "Armenian" sources you and your colleagues have given???

                  I think it's a bit of a childish approach...

Who cares if you accept him or don't accept him. He is a professor at a world class university in the United States, and his research, articles, and books are highly praised and respected. If the world only accepted the so-called professors (or former Kebabjis as I call them) that Turkey "accepts" then nobody would accept the fact of the Genocide.
