Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Everyone on facebook is screaming for validation and attention from the rest world. It's a rubber stamp of existence because it allows for publication of ones self to millions of viewers so that they may see that the said person is in existence and has a 'voice' and is 'unique'; that they have 'friends' and are 'wanted' and have 'things to do', 'people to see' and 'places to go.' The lure and magnetism of facebook is impossible to deny. It's calling is so sweet and supple. It's attraction undeniable. How strong of a disposition must one have to withstand the thrill and calling of the modern pied piper of popularity, the torrent of conformity.

I don't blame them. The specter of 'being' and 'existence' is an unbearable weight upon anyone's shoulders. But the convenient excuse people use is 'keeping in touch with friends.' It's a perfect cover for the elephant in the room - the elephant of the poor state of the human condition. The more people are 'keeping in touch with friends' the more they feel grounded and a sense of stability, as opposed to feeling like they are on a vessel with no destination that is lost at sea.

Thus, a suitable guise has been well crafted for the occasion so that everyone participates in the illusion of "social networking." It has become an informal electrical virus across cyberspace while maintaining a koombaya feel. When considered upon closer inspection, one finds that the word "social" is really inapplicable because the whole experience is based on a pretentious facade of showing interest in the other 'friends' you have which may proceed into the hundreds or thousands. And it's not even social. It's behind a screen of a laptop or a phone.

I was told that one can use facebook to 'reconnect' and 'get in touch' with 'long lost friends' from high school, or 'previous exs' or some other beyond. Why would anyone want to reconnect with souls that have wilted away from ones life is beyond me. They left the realm of one's life for a reason. Why force the past back into the present? Why insist on creating bogus bonds? I bet both parties think they are fooling the other person into compensating for the void of their own egos. "Ha ha ha, the fool, doesn't realize that she/he needs me more than I need him/her. After all, she/he initiated to add ME." And so the politics and psychology of who adds who first, and who is whos friend, proceed endlessly in Ouroboros.

So the 'reconnecting with long lost friends' begins with "Hey how have you been? What are you doing nowadays? Where do you work? School? Friends? Where do you live?" All of a sudden all the big questions of life are at it again. Inquiring minds want to know where and what this person has been up to. Once the initial thrill of the new has passed, the conversations debase into the monotony of redundancy and routine. "Hey what are you up to?" "Nothing much just came home fromw ork." "Wanna go out lol". This is social networking. This is evolution. This is keeping in touch. No one calls each other or writes to each other. They "text" they "tweet" they "poke" and send silly short messages. It's worse than calling customer service and having to endure the robotic voice of the automated lady or the music.

All of a sudden society and civilization starve for 'friends' and 'friendship.' Never has the world been more 'friendly.' Never has the desire for wanting a 'friend' been so overt. Never is it given thought whether any of these 'friends' are there for selfless reasons, who will truly 'be there' when the fateful hour beckons, or whether they will be no where to be found except on a status message somewhere, in time.

For to come to grips with the idea that you are just an organism with a consciousness suspended on a giant rock, a speck of dust on a pale blue dot, floating aimlessly around the sun as asteroids pass by, that's pretty scary.

From whence we come and to where we go, no one may know. To let yourself slip leads to madness. Sanity requires conformity. Register with facebook. Waste precious hours you will never live again in a room with WiFi, your face glued to your computer or phone, and consider yourself a participant of the 21st century experience of 'social networking.' Come to find, it's not very social. Come to find, you are just a cog in a machine. Come to find, you're very boring and predictable and behave like the robotic animal that you are.

I said you are an organism with a consciousness. Pretty soon, you just become an organism that is consciousless. Just a blob of dead weight that consumes. Just a thing that takes, like a slot machine and never gives. It's all about feeling good for oneself in the sensitive and ADD infested generation of pop-ups and fast moving images and fooking idiots.

Addendum: Twitter is basically facebook lite.
