Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

If Ara was a musician, this would be a requiem.
But he harmonizes with words, letters are his rhythm.
    He is mourning.
    The loss of another day.
    Seize them.

    -----------------------------------------
It is not the free thinking that gets you persecuted
it is the courage to fight to speak your thoughts freely that does.

    -----------------------------------------
    Human nature.

    -----------------------------------------
    Between childhood, boyhood,
    adolescence
    & manhood (maturity) there
should be sharp lines drawn w/
    Tests, deaths, feats, rites
    stories, songs & judgements

It's an old trick familiar to all religious leaders: whenever they want to do the devil's work, they speak in the name of god.
      *
It took a world war to prove Hitler wrong; and it took the collapse of the Soviet Empire to prove Stalin wrong. It is the fate of an immovable object to meet an irresistible force.
      *
“There is corruption everywhere.” That's the kind of talk the corrupt love to hear; and they will call anyone who repeats that line a true patriot.
      *
A suicidal man should not brag about surviving still another attempted suicide.
      *
If it can happen to someone else, it can happen to me. Even if I am god's chosen, I am not the only one.
      *
Every Armenian should carry a sign with the warning: "Contradict me and make an enemy for life!"

Two Armenians were having a quiet conversation. It can happen.

        WHAT ABOUT US?
        ************************************************** ****
“There is a lot that we don't know,” a friend tells me speaking of our past.
And whose fault is that, may I ask?
Ours or theirs for failing to share what they know?
        We will never know everything.
        Nobody ever does.
Does that mean we should withhold judgment or submit our intelligence to those who may not have enough of it themselves?
        Who benefits from our ignorance?
        *
Most of my readers don't like me. That's because I hold a mirror up to them and they don't like what they see. They blame the mirror and they blame me for holding it up to them. They never blame themselves. That's the beauty of the blame-game. It allows you to paint yourself all white and the opposition all black.

A regime with enemies will have enemies even among its own people.
A regime that speaks of exterminating the enemy will invariably start by killing its own people. Isn't that what's happening in Iran today?
        And what about us?

Or maybe they, the readers, don't understand you, the writer. Not that it's a surprise.

On the contrary, reading Ara is like opening a jar full of Armenian fortune cookies.

"Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses

Those who died are justified, for wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites

You justify those that died by wearing the badge, they're the chosen whites

And now you do what they told ya, now you're under control"

Just because the music doesn't sound intelligent doesn't mean the message isn't.

Many, many don't hate you ... they actually try hard to understand you. And your response to many of them is either a) unrelated to their questions b) very short, at times unclear, and in certain cases, I'm sorry to say, pointless c) hard to understand again because you write in your special style (no offense) or d) neglection ... as in you ignore them altogether and just continue to post your entries ... jumping from one entire topic/discussion to some other completely different subject matter/discussion without finishing the previous one(s). So naturally, this may lead to people hating you, ignoring you, perhaps trying to not offend you, understanding you (I don't think there are many that do), or TRYING hard to understand you (I fall into this category)!

Bottom line is ... it's all natural ... which is the main problem because there is nothing wrong in any of this. If you wrote very clearly and truthfully, stating facts and much more in a proper way, and people started hating/dissing you...that wouldn't in certain respects be very natural or cool. But when you ignore people, almost never provide sufficient answers, write in a style that only few can completely understand, and just ride on without a care in the world when people are trying to understand you ... I find everything to be natural including hate and everything else.

And regarding opinions, please don't tell me that this is just about understanding/not understanding someone and hating/not hating them. In many of your posts, I read serious judgement calls which many might and don't agree with. When they talk about and express their views and you ignore them ... that's when they start getting pissed and ignoring you. So don't be surprised when things like that happen and please don't think that I'm trying really hard to offend you or something. I simply addressed your indirect question by providing you with a complete answer.

                    I'm trying to understand you.
Your not trying to understand me)(or anyone else.

It's not about who hated you, who understood what, or anything else. It's how you treated the people that tried to understand you. It's how you talked to them.

You like to talk about experience I see. Well here's a little of my own.

I know so many people that talk very truthfully about many great subjects and I mean pure facts but many, many, many don't like them at all! Now why is that? Not because they were idiots ... not because they didn't have experience ... not because they WERE WRONG! ... but because they presented what they wanted to say in the wrong way. It's the same in the case of sites, blogs, books, posts, movies, songs, etc. That's all I was trying to tell you all this time. You say a lot of correct things but your writing style at times confuses people and makes them understand things you might've never had in mind. I used to be like that a long time ago as well. Few people sometimes couldn't understand me and I realized it wasn't because I was wrong...

That's mainly because the truth hurts.
