Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

I believe it's very important to have people well trained or at least prepared in case anything happens. I am however not 100% sure that this is only a security measure or it carries the purpose we are being told, I am thinking that this is a serious approach to the intensified broke of cease-fire by the Azeries (98 only last week), the recent attacks on our border in the Tavush marz, and well, skirmishes in general that may escalate into something bigger someday and we need to be prepared. We have to intensify our border security and be ready for anything, our people has to be ready for anything

I also had a question, in the article it says:
The latest call-up comes amid rumors, stoked by some media, that the army has been put on high alert in anticipation of an Azerbaijani offensive. The Defense Ministry has categorically denied those reports.

A senior Nagorno-Karabakh security official, Colonel Levon Chalian, on Monday dismissed as a “provocation” pro-opposition media claims that the authorities in Stepanakert have banned local male residents from leaving the territory. “We are performing our duties as usual,” he told RFE/RL’s Armenian service. “There are no restrictive instructions.”
Has someone read such rumors spread by the pro-opposition media, or has any link to any of them?

Azerbaijan Rules Out Non-Aggression Pact With Armenia

Azerbaijan – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, undated
      22.03.2010
Azerbaijan rejected over the weekend an Armenian proposal to sign of a non-aggression pact before the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying that Yerevan should first ensure the liberation of occupied Azerbaijani territories.

President Serzh Sarkisian made the proposal in an interview with Euronews television that was aired late on Friday. “That would create an atmosphere of trust in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh,” he said. “And in those conditions, we would start negotiations over a settlement.”

“If the head of Armenia wants to eliminate the threat of use of force [by Azerbaijan,] then let him eliminate the causes that can lead to the use of force,” a spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Elkhan Polukhov, said on Saturday. “Namely, to withdraw Armenian forces from Azerbaijan’s occupied territories.”

According to Azerbaijani media, Polukhov said Baku will therefore retain its “right to restore territorial integrity” which he said is guaranteed by international law. Azerbaijani leaders have repeatedly threatened to solve the Karabakh conflict by military means if the protracted peace talks with Armenia fail to yield an agreement.

Non-use of force or threat of force as well as territorial integrity and peoples’ right to self-determination are the three fundamental principles of a Karabakh settlement favored by international mediators and upheld by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe at a ministerial conference held in Athens late last year. The foreign ministers of both Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a relevant declaration that was adopted by the forum.

Sarkisian called for an Armenian-Azerbaijani agreement on non-use of force in response to a question about Baku’s claims that it will never come to terms with the loss of Karabakh. He stood by the official Armenian line that Karabakh has never been part of an independent Azerbaijan and should therefore remain under Armenian control.

Sarkisian did not comment on the mediators’ recently amended basic principles of Karabakh peace and chances of their acceptance by the conflicting parties in the course of this year.

Are there plans to include Diaspora volunteers in this training and/or request for future recruitment?

Don’t think so. Unless you are Armenian citizen and live (registered) in Armenia. It is not about volunteers it is about military reserve. I do not think they will accept any volunteers unless you have a serious military (combat) experience. Even in that case the only way to get to Armenian Army is to be contracted for professional service. The volunteers time is in past. And I hope there never will be need for civilian people to live their normal lives and fight for survival of the country.

I hope that will not be needed. But if the war happens I think we all have right to defend our country with all means we have.

They won't turn anyone down in case of war. It is in Armenian military tradition to have irregular units for sabotage and guerrilla tactics and volunteers will come in handy for those.

I found a cool article about these detachments during the NKR war (and before that). Check this article on Wikipedia, especially the bottom which details the NKR war units http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armenian_irregular_units
