Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • Bolsahay Armenians reject BEDROS ŞİRİNOĞLU's statements

The text below is open to signatories. Those who wish to join, should please send their names and surnames to the following addresses: [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> http://bizbaskabirturkiyedeyasiyoruz.blogspot.com/
For reasons that we hope will be understood, we kindly request that only Armenians from Turkey sign the petition.

ON THE STATEMENT MADE BY BEDROS ŞİRİNOĞLU

Perhaps we live in a different Turkey!
It was with distaste that we followed the statement made by Surp Pırgiç Armenian Hospital Foundation President Mr. Bedros Şirinoğlu on 26 March 2010, after a meeting with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This statement that disinformed the public contains many points that demand clarification.
Şirinoğlu not “Leader of the Armenian Community”

Bedros Şirinoğlu is not the ‘Leader of the Armenian Community’ as stated in the daily agenda issued by the Press Office of the Prime Ministry; he is the President of the Surp Pırgiç Armenian Hospital Foundation. Representing and expressing views on behalf of the Armenian community does not fall within the province of the Foundation administration. Consequently, Mr. Şirinoğlu’s statement binds only himself, not the Armenian community. We are awaiting a correction from those who have misinformed the public.
    Foundation estates not returned yet

Although Surp Pırgiç Foundation administrators got an appointment with the Prime Minister to thank him on the occasion of the return of eight estates confiscated by the state years ago, the problem concerning confiscated Armenian community foundation estates has still not been completely resolved. Experts frequently express that the steps that have been taken in this field are profoundly insubstantial and insincere. (The fact that the General Directorate of Foundations has certified the return of only 96 estates out of the 1410 recent applications filed by community foundations for the return of estates confiscated by the state is indicative of the gravity of the situation.)
The reality of our lives in Turkey is different

Upon Şirinoğlu’s statement that “Armenians feel themselves safe in Turkey. Have you heard any complaint from an Armenian living in Turkey? Have you? Have you?” we are left with the feeling “Perhaps we live in a different Turkey!” He may feel himself safe, but it is a lie that all Armenians living in Turkey feel themselves safe. In this country, Armenians face racism and discrimination; Armenians here are used as bargain chips in international relations and acute anti-Armenian sentiments continue to survive in broad segments of this society. We would have expected Mr. Şirinoğlu to remember and remind the Prime Minister how Hrant Dink was assassinated three years ago and how no real steps have been taken to find the real perpetrators of this crime.

Not underestimate, but confront the past

We denounce the description of what happened in 1915 as "a quarrel between friends", the underestimation of and the attempt to cover up this big crime against humanity, as a result of which Armenian population was forcibly scattered all over the world and diminished to 60 thousand in Turkey, which was over 1.5 million in the beginning of the 20th century. The road to justice demands that we confront the past, not cover it up.

If the goal is to undo a mistake, what needs to be done is evident

This meeting taking place shortly after the Prime Minister’s threat to deport 100 thousand citizens of Armenia from Turkey and Şirinoğlu apologizing, saying “We misguided the Prime Minister”, give us the impression that these are all part of a reparation performance staged by the government to impress world public opinion. Threatening immigrants who are engaged in a struggle for life in this country with deportation is unethical; irrespective of their nationality. The essential fault with these words is not a numerical one and it is the duty of the Prime Minister himself to correct it. As Armenians who want to live in this country not as hostages or protégés but as equal citizens, we deeply criticize the Prime Minister for making such a statement and declare that we do not agree with Mr. Bedros Şirinoğlu’s statement in any way.
