    Re: Politics in Hayastan

This incompetent fool once again showing his utter ignorance. He simply has to spew his nonsense on every topic, even things that are very logical.
It's refreshing to see the SS regime doing something properly for a change instead of hoping the Turks will evolve into human beings. Very glad for both this declaration as well as the current bill in the Armenian parliament recognizing the Assyrian and Pontiac Greek Genocides.

    Ter-Petrosian Blasts Armenian Genocide Declaration

    Emil Danielyan

    Հրապարակված է՝ 11.02.2015

Opposition leader Levon Ter-Petrosian on Wednesday strongly criticized President Serzh Sarkisian and leaders of Armenian Diaspora organizations for urging Turkey to recognize the 1915 Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire.

Ter-Petrosian also claimed that their “pan-Armenian declaration” issued late last month commits official Yerevan to laying claim to vast swathes of land in eastern Turkey that were populated by Armenians until the genocide.

The declaration was adopted by a high-level commission planning and coordinating upcoming commemorations of the 100th anniversary of the tragedy. The commission is headed by Sarkisian and comprises other senior Armenian state officials, the top clerics of the Armenian Apostolic Church and Diaspora leaders. Sarkisian personally read out the declaration at the genocide memorial in Yerevan on January 29.

The document calls on the Turkish state to “face up to its own history and past” by ending its long-running denial of the genocide.

In an extensive article published in the pro-opposition daily “Chorrord Ishkhanutyun,” Ter-Petrosian described this call as a meaningless “ultimatum” which is not fraught with any negative consequences for Ankara. “How many times should be it said that recognition of the Armenian genocide is a matter for the Turks, rather than us, the Armenians?” asked the man who served as Armenia’s first president from 1991-1998.
Armenia -- Promulgation ceremony of the Pan-Armenian Declaration on the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Yerevan, 29Jan2014Armenia -- Promulgation ceremony of the Pan-Armenian Declaration on the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Yerevan, 29Jan2014

“Other states can call and do call on Turkey to face up to its own history. But Armenia must in no case do the same because that would harm its dignity and not contribute at all to the normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations,” said Ter-Petrosian. He stood by his past statements that Ankara would recognize the genocide only after such a normalization followed by an “atmosphere of trust” between Armenia and Turkey.

The ex-president was even more critical of another declaration passage which says that Armenia and its worldwide Diaspora will strive to not only get more countries to condemn the slaughter of 1.5 million Ottoman Armenians but also “overcome consequences of the genocide.” In that context, it refers to the 1920 Treaty of Sevres that envisaged Armenian control over much of what is now eastern Turkey.

Ter-Petrosian claimed that this amounts to territorial claims to Turkey which successive Armenian governments have avoided until now despite pressure from nationalist groups at home and especially in the Diaspora. The Sarkisian administration’s “drastic U-turn” will make the normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations even more unlikely in the foreseeable future, he said.

The declaration in question says that commission experts are now working on a “package of legal demands” to be addressed to the Turkish government. But it does not specify whether they will include territorial claims.

Vigen Sargsian, the presidential chief of staff involved in the commission’s work, could not say on January 30 when those experts will come up with concrete recommendations. “We have set no concrete time frames as to when that group should come up with its final package,” he told a news conference aimed at stressing the importance of the declaration.

It remains to be seen whether the planned legal claims will run counter to the 2009 Turkish-Armenian protocols that committed Sarkisian’s government to explicitly recognizing Armenia’s existing border with Turkey.

The U.S.-brokered protocols never went into effect due to Ankara’s failure to have them unconditionally ratified by the Turkish parliament. Sarkisian has so far ignored opposition and Diaspora calls for Yerevan to formally annul them.

Opposition leader Levon Ter-Petrosian on Wednesday strongly criticized President Serzh Sarkisian and leaders of Armenian Diaspora organizations for urging Turkey to recognize the 1915 Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire.

      Re: Politics in Hayastan

I can't believe anyone still takes LTP seriously. He wanted to give away Kharabagh and now he wants us to leave the genocide matters up to the Turk. Lets see what Al Bundy thinks about serial murders and wait until he accepts that he committed such murders and wait till he realizes that such murders are bad and wait till he decides to compensate for the murders.....what a xxxxin joke. He is and always was a spy who wants nothing more then to destroy Armenia.

SARKISIAN UNLEASHES WRATH ON TSARUKIAN, FIRES HIM FROM SECURITY POST

        Thursday, February 12th, 2015

One-time allies now sworn rivals--President Serzh Sarkisian and
Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukian

        BY ARA KHACHATOURIAN

In what amounted to a pot calling the kettle black scenario, President
Serzh Sarkisian on Thursday night lashed out at one of his one-time
close political allies, the head of the Prosperous Armenia Party,
        Gagik Tsarukian.

Speaking at his Republican Party of Armenia Council meeting, Sarkisian
used unusually harsh words to describe Tsarukian-also known as
"Doddy Gago"--often referring to him as "stupid" and "a detriment to
        Armenian society."

The president also fired Tsarukian from Armenia's National Security
Council; called on his party members, who comprise the majority
in parliament, to launch an investigation into Tsarukian's absence
from National Assembly sessions (according to Sarkisian of the 145
        parliamentary sessions, Tsarukian has been present to only four);
tasked the prime minister to launch inquiries into Tsarukian's
financial dealings and alleged evading of "billions" in taxes; and
tasked the judicial structures to begin probes into alleged criminal
conduct by Tsarukian, which he said have been "common knowledge"
        in Armenia.

The growing wedge between the two one-time allies widened earlier
this week when a member of Tsarukian's Prosperous Party of Armenia
was severely beaten, kidnapped and then dumped on a street near his
residence. The beating of PAP parliament member Artak Khachatrian
prompted Tsarukian and other prominent PAP members, including former
foreign minister Vartan Oskanian, who is a PAP member of parliament,
to turn up the volume on their criticism of the current regime.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Prosperous Armenia Party condemned
the attack on Khachatrian, saying that it was politically motivated
and was a form of intimation by the regime directed at forces who
        were challenging the Sarkisian administration.

"We believe that the country's supreme political leadership is
primarily to blame for the atmosphere of hooliganism and lawlessness,"
the party said in a statement.

Last Thursday, during a conference of non-ruling parties convened
at his initiative, Tsarukian said: "with the help of a nationwide
movement gaining strength with every passing day we will force the
authorities to feel responsibility for the current situation and
replace the current regime in the next elections."

In his remarks Thursday night, Sarkisian referred to
Tsarukian-initiated rallies and events as a "circus," saying that the
PAP leader probably did not understand the meaning of the words that
        he was reading.

Sarkisian's speech was uncharacteristic of a leader of a country,
both in its tenor and the vernacular used to attack. In conclusion,
the president clarified that "my entire speech was about a political
or rather a pseudo-political phenomenon called Gagik Tsarukian."

In explaining his decision to relieve Tsarukian of his seat in the
NSC, Sarkisian said: "The supreme security body of the country is
not a movie theater, where one come and go as they please," adding
that Tsarukian's consistent absence from National Assembly sessions
was an affront to his constituents who had entrusted him with that
        responsibility.

A significant portion of Sarkisian's remarks focused on the pending
reforms to Armenia's Constitution, which opposition forces, including
Tsarukian contend are being advanced by the regime and the ruling
party to ensure their continued rule over Armenia.

(The Armenian Revolutionary Federation Supreme Council of Armenia has
opted to support the Constitutional reforms process, by presenting
its own amendments and position, thus distancing itself from other
political forces that oppose the reforms process).

The president's full-throttle attack on Tsarukian, the leader of
the second largest political party in Armenia, comes at a tenuous
time for Armenia, which is reeling from a violent outburst by law
enforcement personnel on a convoy of opposition members who were
headed to Karabakh late last month.

In his remarks, however, Sarkisian did not address the upsurge
in beatings of political activists, which seem to have become
commonplace in Armenia, nor did he address mechanisms through which his
administration would deal with the blatant disregard for rule of law.

In a rather surprising turn, the president said a mea culpa, bearing
all responsibility for containing past criticism of Tsarukian and
urging his backers to refrain from verbal attacks against the PAP
leader, saying that he was demonstrating restrain toward the leader
of the second largest political party in Armenia.

Apparently the cup runneth over for Sarkisian. Or, perhaps, by lashing
out at Tsarukian he was challenging other political forces to fall
        in line.

Embattled Tsarukian Calls For ‘Immediate’ Regime Change

          Հրապարակված է՝ 13.02.2015

Responding to a government crackdown, Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) leader Gagik Tsarukian on Friday urged supporters to take to the streets and topple President Serzh Sarkisian with sustained protests.

Tsarukian said he is undaunted by the prospect of losing his parliamentary immunity from prosecution and tax inspections of his numerous businesses which were ordered by Sarkisian the previous night. “I am taking up the gauntlet and am going to fight till the victory,” he told an emergency meeting with senior BHK figures.

“A new situation has emerged since yesterday and it requires a solution. I believe that the only solution is a complete regime change by means of pre-term presidential elections,” he declared in uncharacteristically straightforward remarks publicized by the BHK after the meeting.

“I am now calling for a nationwide mobilization pursuing a single goal: to achieve Serzh Sarkisian’s resignation and get rid of this government of evil through all legal political methods such as nonstop rallies, marches, demonstrations, disobedience and so on,” he said.

“This regime must be immediately ousted and we must turn this inglorious and shameful page of our history,” added Tsarukian.

The tycoon, who leads Armenia’s second largest parliamentary force, did not set any dates or give other details of street protests planned by him. He said he will meet with his two main opposition allies, former President Levon Ter-Petrosian and Zharangutyun party leader Raffi Hovannisian, later in the day to discuss “a full set of joint steps.” The meeting began in the afternoon.

In his speech, Tsarukian also brushed aside Sarkisian’s claims that he is unfit to govern Armenia and has long evaded taxes. He said the Armenian president and his cronies themselves have “stolen billions of dollars from the people” during their seven-year rule which he called disastrous for the country.

Tsarukian also claimed that Sarkisian declared a “war” on him after he refused to back Sarkisian’s plans to amend the constitution and turn Armenia into a parliamentary republic. He said Sarkisian has gone as far as to offer him to become the country’s next, largely ceremonial president in return for his endorsement of the constitutional reform.

“I categorically rejected this anti-state approach because the man responsible for Armenia’s regress cannot have such ambitions,” Tsarukian went on. The planned reform is aimed at enabling Sarkisian to stay in power in a different capacity for the rest of his life, he charged.

Sarkisian lashed out at the BHK leader, reputed to be close to his predecessor Robert Kocharian, just days after Tsarukian publicly warned him to drop the reform plans or face an opposition push for “regime change.” In a statement circulated earlier this week, the BHK and several other, smaller opposition groups said that a referendum on Sarkisian’s constitutional amendments would spark nonstop anti-government protests.

Yes, TP is quite so disgustingly unArmenian. Armenia should always continue to do what has never worked before. If a stance hasn't worked it surely isn't Armenia's fault it hasn't worked - its the fault of everyone else, all those non-human beings. So Armenia should keep on with its stance, don't change one line of it, even if it has been unsuccessful 1000 times or 10,000 times.

168 Zham: Moscow was last drop for Serzh Sargsyan, says Russian expert
              14.02.15

Commenting on President Serzh Sargsyan’s recent speeches, particularly his critical remarks voiced against the Prosperous Armenia party’s leader, a Russian expert said the address, apparently prepared in advance, was delivered much earlier than scheduled.

Speaking to the paper, Vadim Dubnov said he sees that Gagik Tsarukyan’s recent trip to Moscow was the last drop that exhausted the president’s patience.

“By and large, this is the moment that requires the authorities to start strengthening their positions if they wish to maintain power,” he said, considering the developments absolutely logical.

Commenting on second President Robert Kocharyan’s possible return to politics, Dubmov said he doesn’t feel that such rumors are credible. “I think it is mainly he that creates such an impression. In my conviction this impression largely a myth, though I don’t rule out the possibility that Kocharyan has his lobbyist group, as well as resources, in the Kremlin,” he replied.

This is a rather old clip, first time seen it, don't think it's been in our forum also.

I did not know that Surik Khatchatuyan was "elected" marzbed of the year.

Look a the reaction of the other Republican Party Hierarchy and ultimately the response of the corrupt prime minister, as if he is not part of it.

SS has been in power 6-7 years, driven the country into stagnation.

Anybody who does not think it is time for him to go does not understand how catastrophic he has been for the country and nation.

Couple of highlights of his style can show what I mean.
During the last re-election campaign he refused to have any interviews as if he is not answerable to the people.
The other of course is the harassment through beatings of opposition politicians, activist and even war veterans
who had the guts to complain about the state of the country.

For him to try to engineer his way back into some sort of power through a constitutional reform indicates how delusional he is.

                .
Politics is not about the pursuit of morality nor what's right or wrong
Its about self interest at personal and national level often at odds with the above.
Great politicians pursue the National interest and small politicians personal interests

But Gago should not be the one to replace him. He is just as corrupt and guilty as anyone in the ruling power, but what makes him worse is that he is highly unintelligent. I can not imagine the embarrassment of having that overweight gorilla represent Armenia internationally. What's worse, is if actually starts a revolutionary movement, damages the country, and Armenian blood is shed to bring that monkey to power.

It is so frustrating that we can't get one proper party in that country. To me Raffi and the Heritage party continue to be the closest thing to a non criminal party around. Unfortunately, he didn't cease the opportunity he had, and his appeal and his movement have both faded away.

Of course I agree , gago should not (lol) be the one to replace the existing ...
I gotta disagree on Raffi being the closest thing though.
I don't know the politics in Hayastan so don't know heritage party, but Raffi??? ---a front door--- to USA interests. ---- too scary for me ---
My point on Sergz is not on corruptness but instead on geopoliticle balance that we are in.
The big question on that perspective is ... Who out there can maintain that with the capability shown by this govt???
We are dealing with giants!!! Any and all SOVERIEGNITY rests between giants. What SOVERIEGNIY we do have has been retained in large part by a surprising (to me) world class geopoliticle maneuvering.
Who is capable of getting on the world stage with a ravenous west and a bristling Russia ?
There is only about 3 million people there.
Can a group of three million being targeted to make a wrong choice because of (1) lack of correct information, (2) the spreading of mis-information, etc.
Raffi & dodo are going to clearly take a self serving world view compared to what's in place.
My lack of address is the weak point of my support for Sergz.
The corruption and mis-use of power are not representitive of the national desire.
I'm not seeing anyone but possible Seyran Ohanian that can perceive the bigger picture to the world stage.

Unlike Sargsyan, Raffi isn't an oligarch, his part members don't include any murderers, any billionaires, any casino owners, or any rapists. He is not the brother of possibly the biggest thief in the country. Armenia wouldn't be so desperate for the need of others if so much of its own wealth wasn't being stolen by those in powers, mainly in the Republican Party. Armenia would have more resources to protect itself instead of becoming a basket case. At the end of the day, by far the least corrupt party in Armenia is the Heritage Party. But again, Raffis moment came and passed, and now hes just a cute little cheerleader on the side for LTP and Gago.
