      Car Rentals in Los Angeles?

Does anybody know of any car rentals in Los Angeles that will have a rare and specific car that I'm looking for.

It's a 1950s (any year of this model will do) Mercedes 220S Coupe.

Memories -- many years ago I used to own a 1959 Mercedes, 220s.
What a car. Had to do an engine rebuild. Both engine and tranny were aluminum cased as well as the heads.
Hooked the engine and tranny together while outside the car and then to reinstall a friend grabbed one side of engine/tranny while I grabbed the other and lifted engine/tranny combo up and into engine/tranny well.
Incredibly light car for 1959, the body was also aluminum. I could push the car with one hand while it was in neutral.
If I remember right, the manual said it could do at least 70mph in 1st gear(4spead), fast for a sedan.
Also had an interesting manual transmission without a clutch pedal.
      I really liked that car.

Man, you are stirring up memories. Even though I had a brief case with a Zeis Econ camera and a number of beautiful lenses for some crazy reason I never took a pic of that car. Wasn't showing much foresight at 27.
It was gun metal grey, with red leather leather interior ,with Atwood dash and trimmings. And the lights on the dash and gauge panel were rich in color and distinctly un - American, very nice.
The shifter was 4 speed on the column and was actually two shafts, one inside the other. The shaft Thant extended from the first shaft(2nd shaft) moved about three inches(approx.) before it forced the 1st (primary) shaft to move. The first movement of the shifting lever(shaft) that a person would make when they went to shift the car from one gear to another would 1st disengage the clutch(2nd shaft movement, before it moves first shaft it is extending from). Then the first shaft would move and actually change the gears.
Took a little getting used to, but was intuitive after some beginning practice. I liked it better than a clutch pedal. Can't really describe the looks other than to say -- it kinda had a regal or elegant, ... searching -- kinda reminiscent of 1950s era Rolls or Bentley but not as elegant, more modest.
Oh ya, it handled very nice at slow, moderate, and high speed, really nice.

Oh, forgot to mention the doors. You could shut these doors securely by pushing them with one finger. No need to slam them like so many American cars.
      Loved that car.

It's starting to come back to me(memories).
The Mercedes 220s had a grill that was "like" in the Rolls/Bently look. Clearly the center piece of the front end with the cute Mercedes emblem spouting up from the radiator(Rolls/Bently like) center piece.
      Cool car

My grandpa had one in Iran (4 door) ... man it was an awesome car. He had it since it was brand new all the way till 1989 when we left and he had to sell it ... I know this doesn't answer your question but it was nice to go down that memory lane here as wwell.

Re: Car Rentals in Los Angeles?

Am not sure if this will lead to where you want but --- you might call "Harrahs" gambling casino in Reno Nevada and ask if they have a car rental aspect of their auto collection .
I used to live about 60 - 70 milles outside Reno and my neighbor was the head buyer for Harrahs car collection. We lived out in the boonies. His lot was full of cars etc. that Harrahs didn't want.
If Harrahs doesn't offer exotic car rental you might ask them if they know of someone that does(they are well connected) and be specific about 220s.
      Good luck
