Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

That is when I knew what you were laughing at and began to laugh my self.

        Re: Agriculture

I posted this paper which i wrote many years ago to show you that there is gains to be had economically by both sides and particularly by the armenian side. As you can see in my conclusion i also stressed that the border opening is not just a economic issue. Was no room for the abstract so i omitted that. You can poke fun and laugh all you like but some of us care enough to actually do some work on the matter. I do not mind discussion of issues but do keep your sarcasm and name calling to yourselves.

Concrete? Vrej I am disappointed in you! How could you ask a Liberal this kind of questions? Since when time immortal has a liberal ever had anything concrete let alone a point?

You want a poke now or later? We are under blockade but with all the hardship, we are about to construct the North South railroad that is going to start the silk road again. To the point of having Georgia kiss your arse for the fist time since they stole your alphabet!

Some of you can go and send Santa a letter, instead of talking Sh!t all the time, it gets boring talking to you guys! It will always be empty, not matter what you say it is just empty. Don't you get tired of saying nothing all the time?

              My Dear,
              Sorry if I offended you.
Really sorry. I was not willing to offend you

              The problem is:
You Affirm that this process is beneficial for us, while you justly begin "it seems"...
As I told you first hand, theory is good.
              Nice.
              Wonderful.... all you wish.
But if you are such well informed and confident on the subject, to produce this kind of work, can't you just give me one tangible example, where in real life we will benefit from this process??

I am not a scholar like you seem to be on the matter, but I can give you thousands of examples denying your hypothesis.
As an expert, can't you just give me ONE Example, in real life??? (no sarcasm here )

If you are asking me this question then you did not understand the concepts of comparative advantage and specialization. If you read and learn then you will understand or you can just keep poking fun at me and enjoy the bliss that ignorance has bestowed upon you. I know the second thing is a lot easier to do but the first thing is by far more rewarding.

Dear if you permit, and with no offense:
You have a very wrong starting point here, too.
Since when it is the best interest of any big power to bring Armenians and Turks together??
At least since Berlin Conference, I taught their aim was just the opposite ???

                    Dear,
I think I can understand such basics.
But once again, those basics are EU standards....
Do you really think they do work in our case????

I mean honestly, propaganda and wishful thinking aside..., do you really believe it has a chance to happen???

                    ---
                    Once again if you permit:
A concrete example??? Just ONE ???

                      Re: Agriculture

I cannot say what will or will not happen. What i can say is that there is much to be gained economicaly but there are more then economic issues here and i in no way suggest to ignore them. I will try to explain comparative advantage though if you really do want to see how Armenia can benefit from trade with Turky and vice versa. The point that is important to understand is that you do not have to be better then the turk at anything in order to gain by trading with them. Lets start with agricultural example since it is the title of this thread. Agricultural land is limited for both countries (scarce resources principle) Lets say Turky makes 6 tons of potato and 4 tons of figgs. Now lets say Armenia can only make 2 tons of potatos and 2 tons of figgs. Notice how Turky can make more of each thing then Armenia by itself. The thing that is important here is that due to the limited nature of agricultural land(scarcity) Turky will be better off to just make potato and let Armenia make all the figgs. The reason for doing so is opportunity cost(what you must give up to get something else). The opportunity cost for Turky to make 1 ton of fig is 1.5 tons of potatos. The opportunity cost for Armenia to make one ton of fig is one tone of potato. As you can see even when Turky is better then Armenia at making both things but since it is better at making potatos then figgs and Armenia is as good at making potatos as figgs - it will be more efficient if Turky made all the potatos and Armenia made all the figgs and they trade. By doing this they will actually both be able to produce and consume more of both potatos and figgs. Specialization is all about doing what you are comparably best at and since Armenia has lower opportunity cost then Turky at making figgs-it has a comparative advantage over Turky at making figgs while Turky has a comparable advantage at making potatos over Armenia. Since each side is doing what they are most efficient at doing-there will be more figgs and potatos for both given the same amount of land they both had to start with. I hope this makes sense to you now.
