- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

New Year starts with mortar blasts in Aleppo's Armenian distrcicts
    04.01.14

The Armenians of Syria's largest city, Aleppo, celebrated New Year in
an environment different from countries around the word.

According to the Lebanese-Armenian publication Azdak, mortar mines and
missiles hit the city from the first hours of 2014.

The Armenian districts came under serious attack, with the continuing
noise of bombs disturbing the population.

    No serious damages were reported.

But a mortar blast on Friday left a 10-year-old Christian child dead.
A young ethnic Armenian, Goko Gevorgyan, was injured in the same
    attack.

Armenian Family Split: Some Remain in Berdzor, Some Return to Qamshli
        Mаry Mamyan
“It was difficult, but we learnt. At first, I didn't understand. I slowly got used to things here. They helped me a lot,” says Lucy, whose name reads Lousavard in her passport.

        January 9, 2014
Lucy Vartan and her husband Vartan relocated to the Artsakh town of Berdzor from Qamshli, a Syrian community on the Turkish border, in October 2012.

They brought their three year-old daughter in tow.

Lucy confesses that the move to Berdzor, the provincial capital of Kashatagh, wasn’t easy at first.

“It was difficult, but we learnt. At first, I didn’t understand. I slowly got used to things here. They helped me a lot,” says Lucy, whose name reads Lousavard in her passport.

“When we came from Syria things were better. There were air flights. My husband said we should leave while we have the chance. He was right. Now, there are no planes out of Syria,” says the young woman who works at a local kindergarten as a comptroller.

While Lucy has seemed to settle into her new surroundings, other family members weren’t as flexible.

Her younger sister Garineh has returned to Syria, even though she was admitted to Stepanakert University. Lucy says that her sister didn’t interact much with locals and complained that her Armenian wasn’t up to snuff. The two attended an Armenian school in Qamishli up to the ninth grade.

Lucy’s mother has also returned to Syria, and so has her younger brother who was going to school in Berdzor.

She says her brother had gotten used to his new home and really liked Berdzor.

Lucy’s father Artin has stayed on in Berdzor and now lives with his daughter and her family.

Artin and his son-in-law now work in the town of Kovsakan.

When I asked Lucy if the family was thinking about moving there she threw me a grin and said, “It took us a year to get used to Berdzor. Kovsakan is too far away from everything.”

Lucy and Vartan, married for four years, first met at an Armenian social club in.

She has no complaints about her new life in this Artsakh outpost. Her only real nagging worry is that she can’t communicate on a regular basis with family back in Syria.

As for her husband Vartan, he has a brother serving in the Syrian Army, while another has also relocated to Berdzor.

11,000 SYRIAN-ARMENIANS SETTLED IN ARMENIA: ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS CARRIED OUT

          14 January, 2014

YEREVAN, JANUARY 14, ARMENPRESS: One of the programs, sponsored by
the Austrian Government to assist the needy Syrian Armenians living in
our Republic, has been partially launched and the other one is in the
preparatory stage. In the second half of 2013 Austria stated that it
will allocate ~@600,000 to the refugees, who were forced to leave their
houses in Syria because of the violence and get settled in Armenia.

The Red Cross Armenia will implement a program costing ~@280,000 of the
allocated money and the other part has been provided to the Armenian
Caritas to implement another related program. The money allocated by
the Austrian Government will serve the Red Cross Armenia to provide
300 Syrian Armenian families with assistance.

The Head of the Department for Disaster Management and Population
Displacement of the Red Cross Armenia and the Head of the program
"Assistance to Syrian Armenians" Edmon Azaryan told Armenpress that in
the framework of the program for seven months the needy families will
be provided with hygiene products, the people with chronic diseases -
with corresponding medicine, winter clothes and shoes, present cards
to purchase household accessories, applicable in different shops.

We clarified the final information about the number of the Syrian
Armenians, settled in our country from the Head of Staff of the
Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia Firdus Zakaryan. He
informed that during the last three months the Syrian Armenians come to
Armenia through Lebanon. "300-400 Syrian Armenians monthly arrive in
Armenia, parallel to which they leave to Syria from Armenia. It seems
that the roads are closed but they leave by land, moreover, they go
to their homes and shops and then come back", - said Firdus Zakaryan.

Currently about 11,000 Syrian Armenians live in Armenia, who are
permanently supported by the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic
of Armenia in apartment and job issues. About 1000 Syrian Armenians
applied to the Ministry and were provided with jobs.

Aleppo Plight: Recent attacks on Armenians in Syrian city viewed as continuation of genocide

                By Gohar Abrahamyan
                ArmeniaNow reporter

According to scholars in Yerevan, the recent events in Aleppo are continuation of the Armenian genocide and the Armenian community in Aleppo faces extermination.

Images showing vast destruction in Aleppo’s Armenian neighborhoods appeared on the internet in recent days, causing great concern in Armenia where thousands of Syrian nationals of Armenian origin have taken refuge since hostilities began in their country in 2011.

On Friday at a meeting with reporters scientist, ethnologist from Kessab Hakob Cholakian spoke about the situation in Syria saying that during the three years of war the Armenian community in Aleppo suffered most, especially in the suburban districts, where wealthy Armenians, owners of factories lived.

“Nowadays Armenians are concentrated in three districts outside of which there are no other Armenians because of three years of migration. During the last few days another such district, Nor Gyugh, was ruined. The state of Armenians in Aleppo is critical in terms of both safety and livelihood, and at this most dangerous moment we are silent, it’s time to act,” Cholakian said.

Noravank foundation director Gagik Harutyunyan said that in all the countries where the Arab spring took place Christian sections suffered particularly much, a cultural genocide took place.

“The Syrian war endangers our national safety because Azerbaijani mercenaries and Turks are very active on the level of regular army special services, we must be very careful about them,” Harutyunyan said adding that actions realized in the Middle East and in Syria particularly are a direct threat to Armenian security.

“Descendants of Armenian genocide survivors live in the Middle East and they are the bearers of Western Armenian culture and civilization and in case of dissipation not only the physical safety of Armenians but their civilization will be endangered.”

Armenia has strongly condemned the bombardment of Aleppo and, in particular, the city’s Armenian-populated district of Nor Gyugh over the past days, which has caused the loss of lives and destruction.

“We are convinced that the main precondition for progress in the resolution of the Syrian crisis lies in immediate cessation of violence,” Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesman Tigran Balayan said on Thursday, according to the Ministry’s official website.

Earlier, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun), a traditional Armenian party operating both in Armenia and its far-flung Diaspora, also issued a statement condemning the rocket attacks on the civilian population in the Syrian city that is home to a sizable Armenian community.
