Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Re: When do we return Lenin Statue to Lenin Square??

I mixed the name of that anasdvad`s grandson, anyway, same thing, not matter his name....
The paper says it sent a written request to Stas Namin on May 14, asking for his comments on the city authorities’ decision and informing him of the public reaction ...

Mikoyan’s grandson firmly against decision to set up his monument

“I am firmly against setting up any monument. I think memory should live on in hearts and minds of people, not in bronze or granite,” Anastas Mikoyan’s grandson, famous Moscow-based musician Stas Namin said when commenting – at the request of ‘Haykakan Zhamanak’ daily – on Yerevan municipality’s decision to set up a monument to A. Mikoyan in Yerevan.

I hope common sense will prevail.

What is amazing is how democracy works with these committees.

The whole committee bar one votes for this statue.

The decision is so out of kilter with the public opinion that there is an outcry by a significant section of society.

It is very embarrassing to not carry out the “vote decision” .

Quick thinking ...... best solution is to loose the statue.

        Just incredible.

        .
Politics is not about the pursuit of morality nor what's right or wrong
Its about self interest at personal and national level often at odds with the above.
Great politicians pursue the National interest and small politicians personal interests

Sarcastic part: the promoter of this bright servility are the "Republicans/Hanrabedagan", who claim every here and there their supposed ideology inherited from Njdeh. Of corse, most of them have no idea of at least a chapter of his ideology...

Nevertheless, by now, they are erasing the statue of the very enemy of their supposed "spiritual father", a chakal named Anastas Mikoyan, who's name must have been synonimus to infamy, for every normal Armenian.

The man who personally adds 700 names, by his personal initiative, to the execution list, for one and unique crime: Armenian Patriotism (= friends of Njdeh, aka-Tashnaks).

In this Taron Margarian shows his complete lack of knowledge of history and unreasonable judgement in erecting a statue of a person on the contrary of public opinion. This issue and the way it was handled creates questions in motives of Yerevan authorities behind pointless and unfounded and for them damaging resolution for that statue
. This shows how inexperienced and dum they are.

Yes i agree with this statement. I believe a couple of factors explain this situation. Factor 1 is the series of braindrains Armenia has experienced which leaves a larger percentage of idiots in the country. Factor 2 Armenia being a new state lacks experience in self government. While both are painfully obvious, it is the first one which has terrifying long term implications.

It is close to factor #2. Not only they do not have experience, but anything they have is soviet experience and customs. And I doubt that they are even aware how much this situation damages the country and them especially. You see, just like I say that opposition's populist and propagandist tactics are damaging the establishment of real viable opposition, the same way this old soviet mentality ( and brutal corruption is part of it ) is damaging and incapacitating the rulers. Even fundamental issues, like economy, education and foreign policies are reduced to mere jokes in people's eyes even if there is real reasons and efforts behind them. You see people have rejected soviet life for once. But intellectually we have not cougt up yet. And for politicians there are no words. Same old bears and donkeys.

Excellent observation Hakob! I must however add that factor one is not as noticeable only because of the stealthy nature of how its influence is felt. Armenia has lost many good minds and this has an overwhelming impact but it is hard to notice because you do not have a control group.
" Even fundamental issues, like economy, education and foreign policies are reduced to mere jokes in people's eyes even if there is real reasons and efforts behind them."
This is a lot like USA except in USA the real reason is always special interest. With the help of western media and politicians the corporate fascist state has convinced the sheepish masses that cyanide is good for them and should be taken regularly.

Haykakan, the first point you had about brain drain deserves special discussion, because it is not only not on surface, but is soo large qualitatively that average Armenian has hard time understanding. This leads to hatred in some people's harts for population in country. I am so amazed that the most nasty and cynical critics in forums and other media of people in Armenia are the expatriates them selfs(deghatsis). What we have is a brain and morals/ ethics/ class drain in Armenia for quite some time.
