Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

On rereading THE PROVERBS in the Old Testament,
I notice that almost every other proverb deals with fools.
    *
God loves the poor, it is said, that is why He has created so many of them.
If we assume that to be true (which I doubt), why then did He create so many fools when He obviously has nothing but contempt for them (if we assume the Scriptures to be His word)?
    *
“Like a dog that returns to his vomit, is a fool that repeats his folly,” reads one proverb.
    *
“Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him yourself,” reads another.
    *
    More random samples follow:
“A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the back of fools.”
    *
“A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man quietly holds it back.”
    *
“A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.”
    *
“A fool’s lips bring strife, and his mouth invites a flogging.”
    *
“A fool’s mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare to himself.”
    *
Is a fool capable of admitting to being one?
What could be more foolish than trying to reason with fools?
While reading THE PROVERBS, has a fool ever thought, “It is about me that the Good Lord speaks.”

    Re: Fools

    The tragedy of our genocide
    should not blind us
to the incompetence, inexperience, and ignorance
    of our own leadership.
    To those who say,
    “In their place
maybe you would have done a better job?”
    My answer is: Probably not
    but having blundered
    I wouldn’t expect future generations
to look up to me as heroic figure
    and saviors of the nation.

        Re: Fools

Sooner or later we must all come to terms with the fact that we belong to a nation that has been victimized not only by foreign but also by domestic enemies, and of the two, the domestic have been more dedicated and persistent.

          NOTES / COMMENTS
          ******************************
We live in a world where
          how much you have
          is more important than
how much you know and understand.
          *
          The men at the top don’t think;
they let their flunkeys to do their
          thinking for them.
          *
One of my favorite Shaw quotations:
“There are limits to what a mule
          or an ass will stand;
but man will suffer himself to be degraded
until his vileness becomes so loathsome
to his oppressors that they themselves
          are forced to reform it.”
          *
When asked why I unfriend or block readers
who disagree with me, I say
          I welcome disagreement;
what I can’t stand is a smart ass.
          *
President Clinton was almost forced out of office
because he had a fling with a floozy.
Ottoman sultans were allowed to have
as many as a thousand concubines.
          Yanks could learn from that.

To say that our genocide fell on us
like a thief in the night
is not just a lie but a Big Lie
whose obvious aim is to perpetuate the lie
that we are in the best of hands
and we never had it so good.

To express her utter contempt for me,

              “Armenian.”
“If Canada goes to war against Armenia,
will you fight in defense of Canada?”
To which I could only say:
“You mean to qualify myself as a good Canadian
I must have a bloodthirsty disposition
              towards my brother?”

Saroyan's fictional characters are typical Armenians only in the sense that Tevye the Milkman (of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF fame) is a typical Jew. Saroyan “stylized” (his word) Armenians to make them more palatable and harmless to his American audience. But according to his most recent biographer, near the end of his life he was suspicious of all Armenians, including his own children.

                    I repeat myself?
Not as often as “Our Father Who art in Heaven”
and “Hail Marry, full of grace.”
                    *
                    Sharia, infidel, jihad:
                    To spear of these things
is to engage in criminal activities.
                    *
                    An unspoken question
that I have been asked more than once:
“Who the xxxx do you think you are
to classify yourself as a human being?”
                    *
                    Two kinds of poor:
                    (i) dirt poor and
(ii) being dependent on the charity of swine.
                    *
I have nothing to brag about
                    except the fact that
I have been a source of disappointment
                    to my “betters.”
