Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

I have to admit I do drive fast, I am a bit impatient. But compared to when I was young I drive a lot slower now. Nowadays I drive 80-85 on the freeway....45-50 in the city.... before I got my license suspended with my bike I hit 176 with it on the 2 freeway, which isn't such a smart idea. I have slowed down considerably though and even though I drive fast still I don't drive reckless.

When I was younger, I sped a lot....for no other reason than "why not?"

Then I bought a house, on a street which 85% of the traffic speeds excessively on. The speed limit is 35-mph on my street, yet the common traffic speed is up where near 50-mph. I'm outside the city limits, so policing such gross speeding would be done by the county cops...who really have more important areas to focus policing upon, than a rural neighborhood. It pisses me off to no end. Going 55-mph instead of 35-mph down my road is going to get you to your destination SECONDS earlier. The road is in poor condition, has no streetlights, and there are no sidewalks. Friends, neighbors with kids and property are put at significant safety risks because idiots think they need to get to where ever they are going seconds sooner than they would if they went the speed limit.

I get onto my street, and set my cruise control DEAD ON 35-mph, and just watch the traffic pile up behind me. But even then, sometimes people actually pass me, because, eee-gad, I'm going the speed limit....the limit...as in the maximum allowable legal speed. I'm the one that gets honked at and flipped off....

Yeah - I tend to drive much faster then most on average - but can be mellow (though not ussually) - I love the speed!

The fasted I've ever driven is also 145 - out near Monument Valley about 9 years ago....had a great time overtaking this Porsche 911 way out in the middle of nowhere...by the time he noticed me comming uo behind him and I could see him hunkering down and accelerating I pretty much blew past him pretty good.

I've often driven various performance cars up in the 120-130 MPH range...

Had a great time driving the new Bimmer at 100+ on the Autobahn this summer...did lengthy stretches in the 110-120 MPH range - even in France where the speed limit is much lower (but roads are pretty new and in great shape!)...great fun...even had it over 100 once for a bit - early in the morning - on a twisty little stretch of 2 lane road along the Mosel in Germany! (scared some bicyclists somethign fierce! - ooops!)

I used to contend that I never went out for any kind of drive that got me out on the highway where I didn't do at least 100 at some point...but I think I''ve mellowed a bit...still I'd claim 85-90...its just so easy sometimes...

And I do think that its important to build up and learn the skills of driving at speed...things happen quick and you are limited in what responses are possible....I've had a great many years of experience driving and driving fast - and I wouldn't encourage younger/less experienced drivers to do so without refining their skills first - and also make sure its in a car - with suspension, brakes and tires - that are made for it...this point cannot be overemphasised.

this morning i took refuge on the emergency lane on the 118 westbound as it was traffic, i was travelling 80+ and the traffic very rapidly slowed to a halt,, but i decied slowing to 60 and changing lanes to the emergency lane would get me to my class (which i was allready late for) in better time than waiting for the traffic... i figured the cops would be toobusy to care for me.. HAH.. yeah right

or a 2.3 ton 4x4 midsize truck that hits its windwall at 167 mph, and does not have the aerodynamiics to put negative vertical pressure on the vehicles rear end in order for better traction.. this cannot not be overimposed enough

Depends on traffic, physical fitness and bike condition. If all is okay, I can bike 1 kilometer in 7 minutes, not stopping for a single red light. Lately I've been biking very slowly because my tire is half flat. Even a road downhill feels heavy. Very bad for the tires too. I have to pump it. Just haven't got around to doing it.

Maybe I miscalculated. I did about 12 minutes from home to school on a good day, and that was almost 3 kilometers.
