Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Last Armenian Village in Turkey to Lose Status

A recent draft law on restructuring municipality borders will affect the special status of Turkey’s only Armenian-populated village. Located in the southern province of Hatay, Vakifli, which consists of 135 residents, will lose its “special” status with the new law.
Speaking to the Hürriyet Daily News, Vakifli community head Cem Capar said the survival of the village was very important both for them and Turkey’s image. “We hope our rights will be preserved in accordance with the law,” Capar said. “The new law proposes villages in the new metropolitan municipalities be turned into districts. This means Vakifli will lose its village status, so we will no longer be the only Armenian village of Turkey. We conveyed this subject to Hatay Governor Celalettin Lekesiz, with Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin also present,” Capar said. Following a transitional political period that formally existed from 1938 to 1939, Hatay was annexed to Turkey in a 1939 referendum. “Hatay joined Turkey in 1939. During that time, a law preventing foreigners from entering Vakifli came into force. We would be very pleased if Vakifli was protected with a similar law today. Otherwise, the village will not survive very long. It would disappear just like many Armenian villages and neighborhoods that faded away in Anatolia. It would also affect us economically as our gardens and vineyards will be taken away,” Capar said. The Hatay Governor’s speaker, Raif Harputoglu, told the Hurriyet Daily News there were no restrictions on non-Armenian people who want to reside in the village. “No restriction is made in regard to residence, anyone could settle there as they wish. But so far such an initiative has not been made. Vakifli is an important village, since it is a village of tolerance, despite all the crises between Turkey and Armenia.”

I wonder how many historical Armenian monuments are left to be exploited by these parasites? It used to be that Kurds thought they could get rich by digging for the treasure that their neanderthal-like Islamic mindset told then was always buried in every church. Now they think they might get rich by an alternative route, by extracting money from the Turkish state, or EU organisations, or shadowy "foundations", or self-seeking Armenians. A destruction by gradual demolition though treasure digging or a quick destruction by "restoration" - it is all the same in the end. And the first church is not even Armenian, it is Nestorian. I guess they have to call it an Armenian church because there are no Nestorians around to appeal to and no interest in their monuments being redeveloped into "examples of tolerance".

Another Armenian killed in Istanbul, ethnic grounds suspected

A second ethnic Armenian has been murdered in Istanbul within a space of just two weeks in what may be a pattern that also left another ethnic Armenian severely injured.

According to reports by Turkish media, Ilker Sahin, a 40-year-old teacher at a local Armenian school, was murdered in Istanbuls Kadikoy district.

Haberturk quoted Sahins colleagues as saying that they did not hear from him for some time and so decided to visit him. After finding the door to his apartment closed they alerted the police that later entered the house and found the body of the Armenian man with a slashed throat. A reported theory is that Sahin fought for some time with his murderer or murderers. The police reportedly ruled out the possibility of murder during a robbery attempt.

Sahin worked in Aramian school for nine years. It is not excluded that his murder is based on ethnic motives. An old Armenian women was murdered in Istanbul in late December and her throat was also cut. Another attack against an ethnic Armenian woman was committed earlier last year. The woman survived, but lost one eye in the attempted murder.

There is no indication that the police in Istanbul are now linking these three murders at the moment.

MURDER AND ATTACK OF FOUR ETHNIC ARMENIAN WOMEN IN ISTANBUL'S SAMATYA COMMITTED BY ONE AND THE SAME PERSON

The investigation of the murder of an old woman in Turkey's Istanbul's
district of Samatya and the attack on other four continues.

Istanbul-based Armenian-Turkish paper Agos reports that according to
its police sources, all these crimes were committed by one and the
same person. The police are currently trying to find out his identity
on the basis of the testimonies of eye-witnesses and CCTV.

The criminal is 30-35 years old. The police sources suppose that
the attack on a woman in Sisli district and the attacks in Samatia
                      are interconnected.

Maritza Kucuk was murdered on December 28, 2012 in her house where
                      she was living alone.

The attacks on old Armenian women continue keeping the residents of
Samatia district in fear for already 50 days.
