Looking for REAL Armenian music

I've been wanting to expand my collection of Armenian music but it's been a while since I've followed the genre. The thing is, I don't want pop music with a bad key board synthisizer which happens to be 90% of "Armenian Music"... just pop music with Armenian lyrics. No, what I want is really ancestral sort of stuff, like folk music and stuff that uses the kind of instruments that DON'T need to be hooked up to a socket. Any suggestions?

What you're looking for is probably classical Armenian music with traditional instruments that they use in the dance groups (If I take it correctly that you don't want Armenian music that requires instruments to be plugged into the electrical socket).

Browse this website and see if you find something you like:

Narek's Music Section

OR

If you want to download music like that go to the link below and you'll probably find what you're looking for in the instrumental sections if not the others:

Hayastan.com - Music Section

Your welcome.

Hahaa.... rap section.... I actually didn't see that until you pointed it out.

I don't know, the FBI said that there are uncertain things lurking in there.

Aww what the hell..... just go in there.

What I'm really looking for is music that had lyrics to Jivan Gasperyan-type music.

Try searching for some Hrant Kenkulian (aka Udi Hrant), or Hovhannes Badalian.

If you want the real traditional stuff...

Buy these CD-s
http://narek-store.com/shop/SearchRe...xid=85R533Z6HO
http://narek-store.com/shop/SearchRe...xid=85R533Z6HO

The recordings of Hovannes Badalian, Ophelia Hambartsumian, Rouben Matevosian (the early stuff....sadly, the best is only on tape) and Varduhi Khachatrian should give you a taste of REAL Armenian music.

Then there is the other kind of REAL Armenian music...the koosanagan genre, which is the songs of the ministrels, the most famous of them being of course Sayat Nova. I'd recommend this CD.

If you use MSN messenger, I can send a few Badalian songs to you (and one Matevosian). Most of my music is not on computer though.

Yea, but Nuné will use non-traditional instruments also, in most of her songs actually. Same with Alla.

I like em both anyways.
