Tamar Kaprelian is an Armenian American musician and singer. She is best known for her single "New Day" and for winning the OneRepublic "Apologize" Cover Contest in March 2008.
Kaprelian was born in Scottsdale, Arizona to Armenian parents, but she grew up in Georgia and California.
Her interest in music began when she discovered the works of Billy Joel and Paul McCartney, although she also cites classic Disney film songs as an early influence.
Kaprelian won the OneRepublic "Apologize" Cover Contest in March 2008, and as a reward, Ryan Tedder produced her song "A New Day," which went to be her first single. She describes her music as "thought provoking, hopeful, playful, and honest," and expects to release her first album on Interscope records in 2010.
