Turks are at a crossroads:
they either believe their writers
or their wheeler-dealers – meant to say,
politicians.
*
As for Armenians:
they have consistently chosen to ignore their writers
and to say “Yes, sir!” to our bosses, bishops,
and benefactors.
*
If “they” are in deep xxxx,
we are in deeper xxxx.
*
“He can’t lie, he is an archbishop!”
I once said to one of our elder statesmen
(may he rest in peace), who replied:
“They are the worst liars!”
*
The problem with our statesmen is that
they speak with a forked tongue:
publicly they say one thing,
privately another.
*
In our context to be smart means
to avoid being a dupe – make it, a double dupe:
a dupe to odar wheeler-dealers
(who promise recognize the Genocide)
and a dupe to our liars who expect us to believe
with our financial support
they will convince the Yanks to see the light.
