A “MORON” SPEAKS

After calling me a “moron”
one of my gentle readers goes on to explain
we owe our survival to our nationalists.
He fails to add, also our genocide.

General Antranik was right when he said
(I paraphrase), there are only two nations:
the nation of top dogs
and the nation of underdogs
and he will always be on the side of underdogs
regardless of nationality.

Saroyan said, not only we shouldn’t hate Turks
but we should feel sorry for them –
a sentiment worthy of Gandhi.

Kemal was a nationalist.
So were Hitler and Mussolini.
*
If Gulbenkian had been a nationalist
he would have left all his wealth to Armenians.
He didn’t. He knew better than to trust
the judgment and values of our bosses and bishops.

I may be a moron, but I like to believe
I may also be a more objective observer,
and i have found out
the only way to be objective
is to learn to think against oneself.
