Once in a while, to cut me down to size, our philistines like to remind me that I am not the only Armenian writer who has been rejected or ignored by his fellow Armenians. To which I can only say, “That is why I speak with the strength of many.”

    IN PRAISE OF THE WEST
    ********************************
    The West is more progressive
because it is more tolerant of dissent.
    Consider its treatment of dissenters
    like Socrates and Jesus.
    *
If the West is full of holes
    it’s because Western man
    is full of xxxx.

      NOTES / COMMENTS
      ****************************
We may have peace only if
priests, imams and rabbis join the ranks
      of the unemployed.
But as long as they are allowed
to poison the minds of innocent children,
we shall have more terror and massacre.
      *
To those who say we don’t need critics,
we need solutions, I say: Look no further.
      *
The best I can say about my past is that
it’s past. Hell for me would be
to live my life all over again.
      *
We discover more about ourselves in defeat
than in victory. One exception: Armenians.
      *
      Some historians tell us Talaat,
like the Sultan, was part Armenian.
      Had he been all Armenian,
there would have been no survivors.
      *
I write not as an objective observer
but as a mortally wounded witness.

        CELEBRITIES
        ******************
Richard Burton on John (MALTESE FALCON) Huston:
“Huston is a simpleton. But believes himself to be a genius.
And a self-aggrandizing liar. Cunning at it.”
        A “cunning” “simpleton?”
        *
One reason I enjoy reading books by celebrities is that
every other celebrity is treated like xxxx.
        *
If you like malicious gossip I recommend
        CONVERSATIONS WITH TRUMAN CAPOTE.
I forget the writer’s name – he has also written
        CONVERSATIONS WITH MARLON BRANDO.
        *
        Speaking of Capote and Brando:
the best thing I remember to have read about Brando is Capote’s
        “The Duke in His Domain.”
After reading it Brando wanted to kill him.

I have many doubts about many things but about one thing I am certain: those I have insulted will neither forgive nor forget me.
