It worked well because Armenia was part of the Soviet Union and Azerbaijan was not as great of a problem yet.

So why can't we support ASALA?

Didn't they have ties with IRA?

There was a time they were needed to ruffle turkey's feathers. Personally I don't have sympathy for diplomats who bribed and bullied elements of foreign governments and agencies to promote turkish state lies. I view them as combatants in this unholy war turkey wages. Any death of innocents (like the families of these diplomats) though is inexcusable in my opinion. Also, overall a continued campaign would have and had in fact started to turn the world perception of Armenians to negative. So just like the IRA has since focused on political struggle, so must ASALA and other groups put to rest assassinations, which they have.

Killing Turkish diplomats does not gain favorable world opinion for us.

Its revenge. Besides, I agree with karo, kill a few Turkish dimplomats, although a lot would be better, get attention, and react with a message of vengeance, then get into polititics.

That's the point. They weren't supported by Armenians. I guess Armenians were afraid of backing them for it would hurt our cause in thier mind.

Ultimately turkey state and turkish secret service"s secret agents and turkish mafia decided to penalize ASALA by annihilating their killers.
Of course turks would go after ASALA, but the point is ASALA was never properly fininaced and were not supported in order to grow. Sure they would incur casualties, that's obvious, and if they never grew and picked up new recruits obviously, the end result would be their disbandment.

at the end we would exterminate all the ASALA assassinaters.but It didnt continue.
Only if ASALA never grew and gained new recruits. The British went aggressively after the IRA, but the IRA was properly financed and supported and so they are still around. They suffered casualties obviously, but they also delivered casualties.

                  get into politics is wrong...useless
Why? This is what IRA has done.
