Hopefully the government has a plan to prevent that from happening. Its also a positive step towards making Armenia more tourist friendly. Despite the vast improvements over the past five years, the tourism industry in Armenia is still severely underdeveloped compared to our two neighbors, and especially relative to what we have to offer. Of course that partly stems from not having the necessary government funding sources to do so. Hopefully the industry continues to develop because we have so much to offer, and it could become such an integral part of our economy.

Map of the visa policy of Armenia. I find it retarded that citizens of Syria & Egypt have to get a visa prior to arrival while citizens of important countries such as Lesotho & Zimbabwe can just get a visa on arrival. Am I missing something?

Armenia must see visa issuing as a good source of income, income that Georgia and Turkey don't seem to need to get (maybe because their very rich pay at least some taxes).
Airports, train stations and ferry terminals usually charge entry/exit taxes though; and most people would travel there by air, ship or train rather than car. But I must admit the Armenian government must be making a killing out of processing visas, probably it keeps a few people in jobs rather than on the street. Edit: Usually western governments make a killing on processing passports i.e. $150 each, plus postage and extra processing fees.

Also the areas of Ani and Ararat are mostly deserted anyways, so it's not like I'd be running into many denialist Turks. Most of the people who do live around those areas are Kurds anyways, not Turks, and while some Kurds participated in the genocide, many Kurds today have apologized, and seek to be friends with us in order to help their plight against the Turks. So i think I will be fine
Deserted except for millions of mostly obnoxious and always pig-ignorant Kurds. What do you think is worse. Denialist Turks, or non-denialist Kurds who know exactly where Armenians once lived and what happened to them yet still gleefully smash up every Armenian gravestone they can lay their pickaxes on, and dig up every grave they can get their shovels into, or demolish into rubble any church site they know of?

ALL Kurds participated in the Genocide. The Dersimli are not Kurds.

Anybody who visits Armenia often should just get Permanent Residence Passport. 10 years, you can enter as you will, plus work rights and so on.

I know people from North America who travel to Armenia, take day trips to Georgia via land and just get another visa at the border crossing. I think it's immediate too.
