Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

MINISTER OSKANIAN COMMENTS ON TURKISH FOREIGN MINISTER ABDULLAH GUL'S RECENT REMARKS

Yerevan, November 4. ArmInfo. We remain amazed that a letter sent by President Kocharian to Prime Minister Erdogan in April 2005 remains ignored, simply because the Turkish authorities did not like the response contained therein, and do not wish to broaden the scope of discussion beyond history, Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian said commenting on Turkish FM Abdullah Gul's interview to Radio Liberty.

The Foreign Ministry's press service reports Oskanian to say that President Kocharian clearly said to Prime Minister Erdogan that the "suggestion to address the past cannot be effective if it deflects from addressing the present and the future. In order to engage in a useful dialog, we need to create the appropriate and conducive political environment. It is the responsibility of governments to develop bilateral relations and we do not have the right to delegate that responsibility to historians. That is why we have proposed and propose again that, without pre-conditions, we establish normal relations between our two countries."

In that context, President Kocharian said, "an intergovernmental commission can meet to discuss any and all outstanding issues between our two nations, with the aim of resolving them and coming to an understanding."

Foreign Minister Gul's recent comments to RadioLiberty, insisting that the existence of flights between Armenia and Turkey, and of Armenian citizens in Turkey, is evidence that 'the borders are essentially open' is disingenuous. First, the number of Armenians from Armenia living and working in Turkey do not approach the numbers he claims. Second, open borders assumes direct contacts between peoples, unobstructed relations across the border and a functioning transport infrastructure.

We stand by our response which we consider to be a positive one and we wonder whether the Turkish insistence on a historical commission is genuine. After all, we have in fact agreed to discussions on all issues, in the context of open borders. Further, so long as Article 301 which criminalizes mere discussion of the genocide topic remains on the books in Turkey, an invitation to open dialogue cannot be taken seriously. Finally, outside Turkey, scholars - Armenians, Turks and others - have studied these issues and have reached their own independent conclusions. The most notable among these is the May 2006 letter to Prime Minister Erdogan by the International Assn of Genocide Scholars wherein they collectively and unanimously affirmed the fact of the Genocide and called on the Turkish government to acknowledge the responsibility of a previous government.

In light of these complex realities, we can only repeat our readiness to enter into dialogue and normal relations with our neighbor.

JOURNALISTS HOLD TURKISH POLICEE FROM ARRESTING REPRESENTATIVE OF ARFD SUPREME BODY IN ISTANBUL

Yerevan, November 4. ArmInfo. Representative of ARF Dashnaktsutyun Supreme Body, Armenian parliamentarian, Gegham Manukyan, was nearly to be arrested in Istanbul.

Hay Dat Office in Istanbul told ArmInfo that Geghan Manukyan together with Haroutyun Haroutyunyan, Executive of "Hay Lur" program of the Armenian Public Television, participated in an international conference in Istanbul. Speaking at the conference, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan once more declared the official denial of Armenian Genocide by Turkey. In his turn, Gegham Manukyan asked the Turkish premier why on April 24 of 1915 all the Armenian intellectuals of Istanbul were arrested and the killed, which became a start for the Armenian Genocide. G. Manukyan urged the Turkish public and especially journalists to study that "black page in their history" and recognize the Armenian Genocide, which will help both the peoples live in peace.

After his speech, G. Manukyan was surrounded by police officers who tried to arrest him. However, numerous journalists in the conference hall hold them. The journalists asked G. Manukyan to give a press conference. G. Manukyan repeated his call to the Turkish public and journalists in English and Turkish.

Gavur this guy was going to open a banner in the press conference which said something like "'Turks should be brave enough to admit the Armenian Genocide". Other journalists and a security guy prevented him from doing so. I even remember seeing this taped on TV. You dont go around opening banners in press conferences where the PM is speaking. I'm sure this idiot Manukyan knew this too. You get your ass kicked in any country. And, especially in Turkey, you dont get "almost" arrested. Armenian press has again showed how evil the Turk is by vicitimising a "poor but brave" Armenian politician by having him "nearly" arrested Another false Armenian fart.
