  • An 'American' Armenian with a question...

Hey, I am 21 living in American and am 1/2 Armenian. I was wondering since the Armenian Genocide Bill has been passed are there any benefits to American Armenians ? Does becoming a US citizen or permanent resident become easier?

    Thanks for any help,

The Armenian Genocide Bill has not be passed. It was merely approved in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Full passage in Congress may come soon.

What does passage/ official recognition of the Armenian Genocide Bill have to do with you becoming a permanent resident?

      Well it depends

      Welcome to the forum

When the bill passes, I think it will help Armenians in general whether in the US or in Hayastan or any other place in the diaspora. As to citizenship I doubt it, I don't think that it increases your likelyhood for citizenship though.
While it would be great to imagine that the US will give easier access to America for people who have been previously disadvantaged, Mexican experience has taught me otherwise , we still want to know about how come we were never compensated for our stolen property and how come African Americans still haven't gotten their proper apology for slavery.

Regardless, we recognise the Armenian Genocide and other genocides, we prevent more genocides from occuring, remember if the world listened to Armenians during post WW1 there would have been alot less Jewish deaths

Hope to hear more posts from you (or read more actually )
