    Enver on his way back from Sarikamish/Pasen ( between Erzerum and Sarikamish)

    He was giving letters to Prelates of Konia and Erzinjan praising the loyalty of the Ottoman Armenians at the Sarikamish front.

    When Enver returned to Constantinople I paid him a visit to welcome him back ; and got his approval to publish these praising letters to calm the worried Armenian population.

    The same day Enver Pasha in his own words told me that, if it wasn’t because of the Armenian Ottoman soldier with the rank of 50 soldiers (maybe Lieutenant ?) he would have been captured as a prisoner of war. The soldier named Hovaness who without his commander’s order volunteered a swift action to save him.

    Enver on the spot promoted Hovaness with the rank of 100 soldiers (maybe Captain ?).

    First, it is ridiculed;
    Second, it is violently opposed; and
    Third, it is accepted as self-evident."
