  • CBS Television's segment on the Armenian Genocide

CBS Television’s news program will broadcast a segment on Armenian Genocide

    26.02.2010 19:41 GMT+04:00

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ February 28, the award winning American news program 60 Minutes (CBS Television) will broadcast a segment on the Armenian Genocide: “BATTLE OVER HISTORY”. Bob Simon reports on what the Armenians call their holocaust - the 1915 forced deportation and massacre of more than a million ethnic Armenians by the Turks – an event that the Turks and our own government have refused to call Genocide, Armenian Council of America (ACA) told PanARMENIAN.Net

The Armenian Genocide (1915-23) was the deliberate and systematic destruction of the Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire during and just after World War I. It was characterized by massacres, and deportations involving forced marches under conditions designed to lead to the death of the deportees, with the total number of deaths reaching 1.5 million.

The majority of Armenian Diaspora communities were formed by the Genocide survivors.

To date, twenty countries and 44 U.S. states have officially recognized the events of the period as genocide, and most genocide scholars and historians accept this view.

The Armenian Council of America (ACA) is a grassroots organization dedicated to work with all political leaders, offering Armenian related news, analysis and resources for policymakers, media, students and activists, advocating issues important to Armenian Americans. The Armenian Council of America aims to strengthen U.S. - Armenia and U.S. - Nagorno Karabakh ties, the development of programs promoting sustainable economic growth and good governance in Armenia, while promoting the values and responsibilities of global citizenship.

Re: 60 Min. - Armenian Genocide

I want Armenians to be in the news for something other than Genocide for once. Really. It's getting unbearably annoying for me.

This is not news but a mini-documentary. Meh, it is not that bad, there are some nations never in the news or in the news for all the wrong reasons (bombs).

Looks like the xxxs are serious this time about showing their muscle to the turck. They are simply using us for their own needs but i guess we will have to take what we can get. Hopefully this will translate into something good for us.

I'm very curious to see how they're going to "report" this. Notice the very careful usage of words in the description. It doesn't look like it will be a report on the genocide itself, as opposed to a report on why there's a debate on using the word genocide to describe the events. Forgot to mention there's a tiny clip on YouTube:

The Armenians call it their holocaust - the 1915 forced deportation and massacre of more than a million Armenians by the Turks. But the Turks and our own gov...

Re: CBS Television's segment on the Armenian Genocide

Just read the comcast description and it avoided using the G word instead it called it massacre and deportation. This is sounding more like a warning shot by the zionists to turckey in preview of the approaching april 24 push to Genocide recognition. It is pretty sickening how the zionists use this issue to benefit themselves while the victims get nothing. Anyone want more proof that there is no god?
