NBC4 and train jokes

Last night, during Conan O'Brien, NBC4 in LA switched to local news coverage because Conan was telling a joke about two trains colliding and the powers that be in the editor's booth did not believe Los Angelenos could handle it.

Which makes you wonder, if TV stations will censor jokes which it determines is inappropriate, which hard news is it censoring regularly which the public is not informed about.
