Armenian Marriage Age

Does anyone know what the average age for a male getting married in post soviet Armenia is? And how old is the female on average?

I know they mostly marry very young in Armenia. I would say the girls would be around 18 to 21 and the guys 21 to 25. But then I could be wrong. :) Why are you thinking of getting married? :evil: :evil:

Thanks. And no, it's for a story I'm writing, I needed to know about how old one of my charcaters would be when he got married. The ages actually aren't that different than what you'd expect here.

For males, it was usually right before or right after they went into service.

They are 18 years old. I'm positive they are 18.

when i was there peopel married early. it was rather a reaction to the restricted marital atmosphere during soviet times. plus these is no oddyseys of careers. women dont have to make a hard choice between "having a baby" and "persuing finances.
the service recall is two seasons fall and spring, so if ur born in november. they might send you when ur 17.

Age for woman depends if she wants to study after school or not... if she wants to apply to the University she most probably will get married when she will be in third or forth year of study (20-21), but if she doesn't want to apply anywhere, she will get married at 18-20... for boys it's easy... they get married usually when they are 23-25, sometimes 27 (but this is already late :p )... if girl lives in the village, she will get probably at age 17-19...

hahaha..yeah right...I knew a girl who got married when she was 16 to a man, you couldnt even imagine how old he was :eek: ....well neverthless, a year later they had a baby and about a year or two later there was a divorce.

Actually it is here in America, I knew a fifteen year old girl who got married to a thirty year old, they're allowed to get married with parental consent.

did u know that the pre1973 constitution was written after the Revolution. The the sexual laws were lenient in general, because Lenin strongly belived in left-wing Kinsean anarchism. At that time communism was a force almost parallel to what we know know as "sexual liberation".
Thats why the AOC and stuff were made low. Polygamy was abolished. And women were given equal rights. Later Soviet Union changed its ideas about marriage and family. "Marriage is a borguasie institution", that was the slogan at the time of the Relovution.
So if u really wanna be liberal, instead of granting gay marriage, just abolish marriage instead. :laugh: :rolleyes:
