Hey man,

Surprised nobody has answered you. But V-tech is your engine, it means "Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control."
So you ask what does this VTEC stuff do? Well, at around 5000 rpm (in the Prelude) a mechanism within the
engine shifts longitudinally (thanks to oil pressure), and a set of lobes
tuned for higher performance take over controlling the valves.

actually, VTEC has more 2 than justed valve timing. the ECU (engine computer unit) is a main part of the VTEC system as it shifts the fuel ratio and controls fuel injection, providing more power and torque when you need it without affecting fuel consumption.

Additionally, most VTEC engines also feature DOHC (dual overhead cam), which provided seperate camshafts for the intake and exhaust valves of the engine, allowing you to either retard or advance fuel injection, or exhaust venting... Basically, it allows you to fine-tune your engine to your desired setting.

vtec is variable valve timing and lift electronic control jsut how emil said it but what it does is it after 4500 RPM'S (RSX-S) what it does it, it corssover to Vtec which gives you more Kick in the car rather then basic driving i think you get what im saying Vtec is just Vtec but I-Vtec is the real vtec thats the real performace engine Vtec is more economy/performance i-vtec is all power

I have a 99' accord V6 3.0 Liter coupe V-tech, SOHC but I don't like it much. It shifts slow and not so sleek like Preludes used to be. I think BMW 323 and 325 has lot to offer than Honda Accord for little $$ more. Even the BMW 323 (2.5L) accelerates faster than Honda in 0-60 MPH. The older Hondas I use to have were actually better than this new ones.

i know a few Benz mechanics and they all say the 230/240 is junk!!!

if you're gonna spend that money...get a bmw if you're in it for the label....if not, get your self a GMC Yukon :D

hey bud I dont know what kind of turbo you got but i have a turbo fitted on a H22A and it boosted @ 7.5 gets me about 75-80 HP and thats to the wheels.


lotus My Honda sound puts some camaros and mustangs to shame. Its a 4 banger with a 3 inch pipe coming out the side

if anyone is interested i'm selling a jackson supercharger for a sc400 I'll let it go for 3000


also have a twin turbo set up H22 too powerfull for my engine, boosted at 4 % it will produce about 100 hp on the right engine.

7,500 is price not a penny less

Wait wait wait....75-80 hp at the wheels out of a mere 7.5 psi??? Excuse my skepticism, but that sounds a bit...far fetched (especially when you say you have a twin turbo set up that MAY produce 100 hp on the "right" engine). You do realize that's half the power that motor starts with, don't you?

Oh, and your Honda may sound loud with it's 3" exhaust, but it's not the level of volume we have a problem with. It's the horrific sound emanating from those 3"s. :p ;) Just bustin your balls.

You have the dyno tests to support these numbers, right? ;) Few questions for you, Wise. By 2 bar, I assume you're talking about the MAP sensor? If you are, isn't a 2 bar only capable of 14 psi of boost, tops? Also, what the hell are Intank Pumps? And since when did Injectors start getting measured in CCs instead of lbs/hr?

The car diffinetely looks cool, but something's not adding up on the mods to HP ratio, here. Maybe I don't know enough about import tuning, but it seems....off.

LOL, if you didn't say anything, I was going to. German cars have long been regarded is one of the most unreliable kinds you can buy. This year, even American cars beat some of them out in the initial complaints on new cars survey. That's right, GM faired better then mercedes. But the Japanese cars topped them all, still being a pretty good distance ahead of European and American cars.

I've been awfully tempted by the Acura TL. Usually, I can't stand import styling, interior or exterior. But that is one freaking sharp car, especially in the performance package I saw at work yesterday with the side skirts and 18" factory wheels.

If I got it, I'd still keep my other cars, though. I'm a die-hard older domestics fan. I've always loved the aggressive styling (on the higher end models), and the crazy features (heads up display, digital dash, massive driver info centers, 9-14 way power seats, etc). Too bad they stopped doing a lot of that cooler stuff, and their styling has done down the tubes. :crying:

The 170hp 1.8T does not cut it for me for a MSRP of $26k for the basic model, non quattro. These days you need some ponies under the hood. Would much rather take the 270hp 3.2 in the TL, but the price is a little higher MSRP $32k. The Infiniti G35 4door is a nice car for its price as well. VW is just another Audi.
