  • Definition of "Azerbaijani"

The Azerbaijani nation is the amalgamation of Arranis(Caucasian Albanians), Georgians, Armenians, Kurds, Persians and Atropatians, overlaid by Turcoman invaders, fused by the adoption of Shia Islam and the Turkish language.

Turkification was the bonding element that eliminated the differences of these various unrelated ethnic groups that created the Azerbaijani nation as we know it today. In contrast, Shia Islam was the separating element that made a distinction between Caucasus Turks and Anatolian Turks, and that steered their affinity toward "Shia-Islam Iranian-Azerbaijani Turks" instead.

Therefore, the name ‘Azerbaijan’ derives from Atropatene, however, today, it designates ‘Shia Oghuz Turks,’ rather than ‘descendents of Atropatene.’

The modern meaning of ‘Azeri language’ (as opposed to Old Azari) refers to the Turkish dialect spoken in historical Greater Iran. The speakers of this language are considered ‘Azerbaijanis.’

However, if we were to specifically speak of the successors of historical Atropatians, we’d use term ‘Iranian Azerbaijanis,’ and for the successors of Turcomans and turkified peoples of the Caucasus, such as Arranis, we’d use the term ‘Caucasian Azerbaijanis.’

In that case, we wouldn't need to specify "iranian."

Since they speak "Azeri Turkish" we have to give them something. But then there's "baboon".... Federate thought well.

      Azerbaboon.
