Wikipedia is the forefront of the information war, as it has become a source many people go to for basic information. We must organise and repel Azeri fabrications. I think in Wikiproject Armenia we should have a separate section dedicated to repelling such fabrications, an organised taskforce of determined Armenians. What people think?

Who is to blame for Wikipedia? Drug dealers (the writers of the articles), tainted drugs (the content of the articles), corrupt law enforcement (the administrators of Wikipedia and its owner Jummy Wales), or addicts (the consumers of the articles, persons looking for a quick, free and easy to find "fix" of information). And if the drugs were made pure, does that excuse the addicts and dealers? Surely the core problem is the existence of the addicts.

Just as in real life, a lot of the "dealers" find they become "addicts" - most of the readers of obscure articles are limited to those who edit them, and edit war on them, and argue endlessly about their content.

I do what I can with wikipedia, I only add what I have solid sources for, so I haven't done much. I expanded the religion section under "Urartu" and I also added Echmiadzin to the list of Armenia's oldest churchs (no clue how that wasn't on there) and wikipedia's over all list of oldest churches.

But I can't read azeri turkish so I can't help with those pages, and I don't even know what armenian articles to start going through to look for azeri mishaps

Joseph, let me add some other interesting details: First, let me give the context: Anyone that knows the history of the region knows that The Kingdom of Armenia existed, was larger than it is today, and was united in brotherhood with the Persian empires going back several thousand years. When I traced back who was erasing citations from Wikipedia this is what I discovered: It was (1) a member of the Azerbaijan armed forces, who sought the help of (2) an Israeli moderator, and who was being helped by (3) an American in the oil and gas business. They were just making-up unsubstantiated stories together (totally lacking citations to historical texts). After my first posting on wikipedia (only citing books!), these three banned me without explanation.

Give diffs and user names (or gtfo ).

You are talking about the English-language wikipedia.org, I presume?

Name Changes

Üçkilsə -> Eçmiadzin
(Prior to "Üçkilise" -- which is related to "Eçmiadzin" -- the city was called Vagharshapat (or a variant of it). Armenia renamed the city to its initial, ancient, original name. If anyone changed the name, it's the Arabs or Turks, and the "fake" name is Üçkilise/Echmiadzin)

I thought Etchmiadzin translated to "the place where the only begotten descended?"

Joseph, they banned me completely (using an IP block); so I traced the users (they are from Israel, Baku (a members of the armed forces), and a guy in the U.S. working in the oil and gas business who has been given the "The Azerbaijani Barnstar of National Merit" for vandalizing history. I am a professor of Persian studies, and they wouldn't even let me make spelling corrections to Persian words they used!

I don't doubt that. I've noticed the Azeris becoming very aggressive lately when it comes to inventing stories and adjusting Wikipedia at will. Is there anyway you could re-register under a different name? and which articles were the defacing? Thanks
