    Yes, the diaspora can wire money to Armenia at a cost of exchange of approximately 35% in transfer fees. Wonder if this will apply for Arab depositors?

    Look forward to seeing what the Arab League and the OIC have to say about this former story.

    I doubt it. Dubai was already created a decade ago to replace Lebanon.
    The first requirement of attracting capitals is STABILITY.
    We are far from it. Arab money will come with burdens .... Lebanon was the "w-hore house" for Arabs. Something to consider.

        Armenia is the most stable country in its region, and I am not just referring to azerbaijan and georgia, but turkey and Iran as well. People have been talking about how Armenia's economy is too dependent on foreign remitencies and the construction industry, so if Armenia were to become a regional hub for finance the better for our nation. Not only should Armenia strive to be the regional financial nation, but also a leader in IT, service industry, and industry. It wouldn't take as much as some think to start up a military industrial complex in Armenia, this is something the Diaspora along with the government should look into.
        For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
        to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

          What an imagination you have...35%!!!??? Why do you go out of your way lie about Armenia? You defame Armenia as if you were a Turk.

          I've transfered money to banks in Armenian on numerous occasions. The charge is 5% or 0.05 on the dollar.

            Which banks and when?? Your experiences appear to be an exception. The transfer rate experienced by most is more than the 5% you claim. Douchebag says what?

              It was Cascade bank in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

              Stop being an idiot. No legitmate banking operation can charge 35% in transfer fees. Not only is it probably illegal, it is not even close to being competetive.

                I'm taking about wiring funds. You know (e.g. Western Telegram). There can be no doubt that some in the diaspora feel that it is heavy handed to fund their relatives via wire.

                All I can say is RA welcome to the OECD, FINCEN, FATF, FITSIC, etc.

                If you didn't like being regulated and poked about by odars (COE, OSCE, etc.), its only just begin if you desire to through your hat into the global banking arena.

                Rather than having such lofty notions, learn how to enforce and uphold your constitution. Otherwise, real global players won't take the RA seriously.

                Government officials and employee are not henchman for their party leaders, leader or their president. First and foremost their duty is to the nation and to uphold the constitution.
