YEREVAN (Combined Sources)-Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorkian Tuesday introduced the three new ministers of the coalition cabinet representing the Armenian Revolutionary Federation to their ministry staff.
Agriculture Minister David Lokian, Education Minister Levon Mkrtchian and Labor and Social Affairs Minister Aghvan Vartanian were replaced by Aramayis Grigoryan, Spartak Seyranian, and Arsen Hambartsoumian by the party following the election late last month of its three ministers to the governing bureau of the organization.
The three new ministers, who were confirmed by President Sarkisian on Monday, were introduced to their ministry staff as professionals with strong organizational skills and honest reputations.
Gevorkian told the leadership of the Education and Science Ministry that Seyranian would uphold the reputation of the ministry. The ministry is facing many challenges right now, as thousands of school graduates are taking graduation examinations and universities are preparing for enrollment examinations.
The Education Ministry has been tasked with the responsibility of ensuring transparent and honest examinations, Gevorkian said, stressing the need to make higher education available to all on a fair and honest basis. Mkrtchian, who was present, was thanked for his years of dedication and service as the Education Minister.
Gevorkian then introduced Hambartsoumyan to the staff of the Labor and Social Affairs Ministery, saying that the government was pleased with the ministry's effectiveness in solving the country's social problems. Hambartsoumian oversaw the implementation of Western loan projects at the Labor and Social Affairs Ministry before his appointment.
Hambartsoumian is well aware of the sector's priorities and problems as he steered a social protection credit program, explained Gevorkian.
Vardanian said it was an honor for him to work for years as head of an agency that has worked to promote the establishment of a strong Armenian state.
In introducing Grigorian as the new Agriculture Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister thanked Lokian for his service in the Ministry. Lokian, he said enjoyed the respect of, not only the country's leadership, but also Armenia's farmers, whose problems he knew well. Lokian had made it a point to periodically tour Armenia's rural provinces and survey the problems of its inhabitants.
