      Slovakia to provide Armenia with credit for construction of hydroelectric power station in self-declared Nagorno Karabakh
      06 March 2009 [17:17] - Today.Az
      Two hydroelectric power stations will be built by initiative of the forum of Armenian unions of Europe in Nagorno Karabakh, said chairman of the forum, president of the Armenian community of Slovakia Ashot Grigoryan.

      He said an investment program known as 50+50 mln EUR program in frames of which Slovakia will provide Armenia with a credit aimed at assistance to Armenia's economy was presented last year while celebrating the 10th anniversary of the forum.

      "The main aim of the program is to introduce modern technologies in Armenia and Karabakh and conduct huge works in the energy sector", said Grigoryan.

      Armenian-Slovak relations potential not used in full
      06.03.2009 19:28 GMT+04:00

      /PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Armenian-Slovak political dialogue is on a rather high level. These relations have a high development potential but they are not fully used, saidAshot Grigoryan, head of Armenian community in Slovakia, the chairman of the Forum of Armenian Unions of Europe (FAUE) at the press-conference in Yerevan to a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. “Yerevan and Bratislava are unique partners. Slovakia has always supported Armenia in International Organizations. In 2004 the Parliament of this country recognized the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire despite the fears that the relations with Turkey may change for the worse,” mentioned Ashot Grigoryan.

      “Now Slovakia and FAUE are considering the import program on modern technologies with Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. Slovakia plans to issue a loan for the construction of two hydroelectric power stations in Nagorno Karabakh,” Ashot Grigoryan informed.

          Masis Mayilyan: Someone in Baku surpassed himself in his fantasies
          06.04.2009 17:40 GMT+04:00 Print version Send to mail

          /PanARMENIAN.Net/ “RA Ministry of Foreign affairs already made an announcement detailing that NKR conflict settlement issue does not determine normalization of Turkish-Armenian ties, and Karabakh will not be discussed in negotiations with Turkey,” Masis Mayilyan NKR Foreign and Security Policy Council Chairman told PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.
          “Our neighbors are once again trying to pass the desirable for reality. Humorous approach should be taken on such misinformation. Some commercially talented person in Baku surpassed himself in his fantasies. Without participating in the deal between two parties, Armenia and Turkey, the Azeri tried to get territories, falling under NKR jurisdiction, for Azerbaijan,” Mailyan said commenting on Azeri media-circulated information that Armenian-Turkish border wont be opened until NKR conflict is settled.

            Re: News about Artsakh

            i dont know if this is where this information belongs but since its about artsakh i thought id post it here. its an article i found about a resolution passed in the european parliament where they say artsakh is part of armenia and was given to the azeris in 1923.

            5. European Parliament resolution of 7 July 1988 in Soviet Armenia (OJ C 235 E 12 9 1988,
            p106) :
            “Having regard to the historic status of the autonomous region of Nagorno Karabakh (80% of whose present population is Armenian) as part of Armenia, to the arbitrary inclusion of this area within Azerbaijan in 1923 and to the massacre of Armenians in the Azerbaijani town of Sumgaït in 1988,
            2. Supports the demand of the Armenian minority for reunification with the Socialist Republic of Armenia;
            3. Calls also upon the Soviet authorities to ensure the safety of the 500,000 Armenians currently living in Soviet Azerbaijan and to ensure that those found guilty of having incited or taking part in the pogroms against the Armenians are punished according to Soviet law;”
            6. Cultural heritage in Azerbaijan PE 369.572
            European Parliament resolution on cultural heritage in Azerbaijan
            1. Condemns strongly the destruction of the Djulfa cemetery.

            Also articles from the CIA
            The declassified documents - some from as back as the 1970s, confirm that successive U.S. Administrations have known that:

            1) Nagorno Karabagh is historically Armenian;
            2) Nagorno Karabagh has always maintained a legitimate claim to be reunited with Armenia;
            3) Azerbaijani hostility toward Armenians in the late 1980s and early 1990s was not based on an Azerbaijani claim to Nagorno Karabagh, but, rather, was the outlet for growing domestic Azerbaijani frustrations over political, economic and demographic shifts that increased the gap in living standards between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

              THE NUMBER OF THE NKR VISITORS IS INCREASING

              According to the data of the NKR Foreign Ministry's Consular Service, the number of foreign citizens who visited the Nagorno Karabakh Republic in the first quarter of 2009 increased about twice, compared with the similar period of 2008. Prevailing are citizens of France, Iran, Great Britain, Holland, Russia, Poland, and others.

              According to the NKR MFA Consular Service, in spite of the world financial crisis, a stable trend of increasing the number of foreign citizens visiting our Republic is fixed. They are mainly tourists, the peak of their visits to the Nagorno Karabakh Republic falling on the period between May and September.

                  Armenia starts negatively influencing the peaceful process of Nagorno Karabakh, Mammadyarov says
                  25.05.2009 11:56 GMT+04:00 Print version Send to mail

                  /PanARMENIAN.Net/ “Armenia’s and Azerbaijan’s presidents continue discussing questions in St. Petersburg, which are still unsolved in the framework of peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict , said Azerbaijan’s foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

                  "Certainly, presidents will discuss any topic, but today I would like to listen a note of constructiveness from Armenia. Despite development of a new situation in the region, Armenia, unfortunately started negatively influencing the peaceful process. While we have achieved everything in peaceful process with Armenia’s past administration, we have not achieved anything with current authorities. From the day of coming to authority of a new person in Armenia sides haven't budged an inch," Mammadyarov said, Azeri Trend News reported.

                  Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev and Serzh Sargsyan project to have a regular meeting in June during economic forum in St. Petersburg.
