Yeh this is like what we have here in Detroit with metrocab being the official cabby service for the metro airport. My inlaws were among the first ones to use the new terminal when they returned to Hayastan and they were very happy with the changes.
      Hayastan or Bust.

Don't think the airport terminal is tall enough to worry about such swaying, and the diagonal struts will stop the lightweight walls from moving side to side. Though I hope the high earthquake stability involves making sure that glass or ceiling panels don't fall from the roof onto the terminal floor.

What if you are travelling to the airport in a private taxi, perhaps from a location that is not served by those two taxi companies? That will mean inflated prices for such travellers because the taxi driver cannot be certain of getting a return fare. It would be more sensible to enforce fixed-price taxi fares for set destinations than exclude all private taxis, the good ones with the rogues.

What about public transport to the airport? Does it exist?

The only thing left is to shape up the area around the airport. If a tourist comes, they will see the fancy, new airport, but once they leave, they see run down soviet buildings, right next to the airport. A poor first impression.

no need for private taxis, you call the licensed companies instead.

in a nutshell, there's no reliable public transport to airport as of now. maybe till next summer, there will be something, who knows. they don't even have one central bus station in yerevan, it's kind of spread over a few places.

I'd say that the poor first impression actually comes from the mafia-owned casinos and nightclubs/brothels that line the road to Yerevan.

Then the new airport seems a case of "fur coat and no knickers" if they are ignoring setting up such essential transport infrastructure.

I don't like those casinos or nightclubs either, but they are a reality of most countries.

Yeah those are a ridiculous first-sight. I like that there's no casinos in Yerevan itself but this alternative of lining them up on the road to the city is terrible.
