If all "race" means is the color of your skin, why would people ask me? Wouldn't it be self evident? And if it is self-evident, then why is it an issue? The only issue should be your ethnicity. Now if someone asks what race I am, they can tell by looking at me that I'm not Asian, or black, they can tell I'm of a white extraction.. so wouldn't we seem like idiots having that conversation? "Hey white looking dude, what race are you?" "well good sir, I am white!" I mean come on, it's the stupidest thing in the world. The truth is when most people ask "what race are you?" they're asking what ethnicity or cultural background you are despite what the technical or IvyLipstick definition of the word may be.

I guess what I'm getting at is just because Armenians are of a white race, they doesn't give you license to reffer to us as "we"... we do not share the same history, culture, events, language, traditions, ANYTHING. You and I are not 'WE', we will never be 'WE', just because we are both of white extraction gives us NOTHING to have in common but that one self evident an dultimately meaningless trait of pigmentation. You and I are NOT 'WE' simply cause you're a mut of indo-european backgrounds.

I'd also like to add that I'm very disapointed with our mommies and daddies in the moderator world, because if we can ban a venom spewing disrespectful idiot like Archtype88, why have we done nothing about this person?

Hyejinx, historically the Asia Minor and the Armenian highland has
been "white" and or "European". Unless of course, you are insisting that our language is actually a "Semitic" language? Anyways, I do not care and or do I care to argue with you. I would prefer to be Armenian as opposed to white, but in my opinion it is inconsistent to label Armenians a non-white race. However, if Turkey gets into the EU my opinions will drastically change, good day.

By the way, in no way is it gratifying being labeled "white" and or "European" when we had a civilization that predates these labels. However, in order to be consistent with "western" historians and or our own origins we must be labeled "white" and or "European". My argument is made on the basis of consistency, thus, if Armenians are not "white" and or "European" then Greeks, Persians, and the rest of our ancient contemporaries including those that are extinct, equally, are not "white" and or "European" as well.

What I was talking about, and it still baffles me that no one is quite getting what I'm saying although you've come the closest, is that yes we are white, but that's not what I'd identify myself as, and what I identify myself as is the important thing. Someone asks a Jewish person "what background are you?" most of them say "Jewish" even though that's not even a race OR ethnicity, that's a religeon.. but that's what they are first, and they're polish or israeli or whatever else second.

What I'm saying is WE as a people should, and for the most part do, identify as Armenian FIRST. Yes, we're white, indo european, christian, etc, etc... but and first and foremost menk hyenk. Period. If you don't have that first requirement don't come up to me and use the term "WE" and pretend like we're in the same group or something. That's what I'm trying to get into that thick skull Ivy's got. Then again even if I did come up with the best arguement in the world she'd ignore it, laugh like a hyena, call me names, and then still claim to be "we."

I wasn't comparing. I was using as the most extreme example of "identifying with what you are first" I never compared Armenians to Jews, I simply used them as an example. This board needs to stop being so jewaphobic. It's gotten to the point where simply mentioning a jew in any context as an example of anythin is just a way for people to get upset.

Jews do not identify with anything other than gains. It matters little to them what they are. They have used the label "Jew" to get what they want, and that's it.
