  • Gas to Armenia

Russia cuts off gas to Georgia and as a result, Armenia is left without Russian gas. Luckily for Georgians, they can get it from their bossom buddies the Azeris, while we have to use reserves.

Georgians are making a huge deal about it since they are freezing. Now I know it sounds inhumane, but I'm kind of happy about it. In the early 90s, Ukrainian gas that Armenia was importing, going through Georgia was continuously sabotaged. Georgians didn't lift a finger to help out with the flow of gas, leaving Armenians in the dead of cold winter without gas. Compounded with electricity shortages, winters of '91 and '92 were absolutely horrendous. So, good, let them freeze. No wait, they won't, their ass kissing to Azeris and Turks is finally paying off.

Then I had a scary thought that maybe it was a Georgian-Azeri (maybe Chechen) conspiracy to leave Armenia without gas, knowing full well that Georgians can get it through Azerbaijan.

Either way, it's a scary prospect for Armenia to face another 2 winter months without gas.

Yep, thank God for them. At some point we did get gas from them in the 90s.

As for Georgians, meh. I talked to some of them on IRC yesterday. They were a bit conceited, but I don't want to generalize. When one of them said "kamac kamac" to me it put a smile on my face.
