they say armenia is a resource poor country, but in fact it has enough resources to considerably boost the economy of a country that size. It has gold deposits at zod, and i am appearently they do have deposits of oil and gas. Most important of all is the human capital: armenians are some of the worlds most educated people, our scientists and doctors truly worthy of their titles.

Regardless of resouces, armenia can be transformed into a regional center for technology.

The problem isn't not having enough natural resources, the problem is not putting it to use that will benefit and streghten the armenian state.

The current cutthroat politicians in power, such as our "beloved" paper defense minister "serjik" who gambles away the peoples money at monte carlo and other world famous casinos simply don't give a rats butt.

The unibrowed brother of our "defense minister" owns over 12 million dollars of real estate in California. Why isn't this money being invested into Armenia? surley, as a defense minister Serjik must know that the first deterant of foreign aggression is a viable economy capable of supplying and feeding its troops.

Any person or political force with property and funds and connections to foreign country's cannot be trusted with running the Armenian state. This is very dangerous. if you want to live in armenia, you abide by our rules, you don't come here and usurp power and then carry out the orders of your foreign masters. All such organizations, parties and people must be kicked out on their ass by the natives and only then can the people of the country be the master of its own determination.

“Aravot” predicts “unpleasant surprises” awaiting the Armenian government as a result of President George W. Bush’s announced plan to track down and confiscate assets of corrupt foreign leaders kept in banks around the world. The paper says this is another indication of why corruption is so dangerous for Armenia’s national security. It says the country’s rulers should therefore “steal a bit less,” instead of constantly warning government criticism against “damaging Nagorno-Karabakh.”

“Even on the future status of Karabakh disagreements within the government are impossible,” writes “Zhamanak Yerevan.” “First of all because various layers of the government pyramid are solely concerned with their welfare. So it turns out that even issues of pan-national significance can not open a crack in the government pyramid.” One such crack, according to the paper, is emerging now. But at the heart of it is competing political and economic interests, rather than concern for Armenia’s future. “We are dealing with a classic clan clash whose magnitude could prove destructive for the country. The impression is that Robert Kocharian has given the following fatherly advice to the clans openly opting for a confrontation: gobble up each other.”

Lragir.am also reports that a group of Armenians from Greece have abandoned plans to attend an Armenia-Diaspora conference in Yerevan, scheduled for next month, after “circles close to conference organizers” offered them to pay $5,000 person for a ten-day stay in hotels outside Yerevan. “The group of Dashnak patriots, which mainly consisted of elderly Diaspora Armenians, felt that a $5,000 conference is a rip-off and gave up plans to come to Armenia,” it says.

we need US or European help to dig out the oil. Once this is done, they will request a share of it, or atleast money, and the rest of it would be ours to sell for a profit.

The honored constructor of Azerbaijan Emil Akhundov says to Day.az that Baku needs defensive system similar to the one used during the blockade of Leningrad during WWII. This is very important as not only Armenia but also Iran may strike Azerbaijan from the air. "We must have underground cinemas, warehouses, schools, bunkers, bomb shelters. We have none yet and I am afraid we may pay high price for our criminal negligence," says Akhundov. He notes that the Baku subway will hardly save people in case of air raids. He is also critical of the ability of fire services to extinguish the fire caused by air raids.

Iran will support Armenia but will never strike Azerbaijan.

What I meant was how would the oil be pumped out of Armenia? There is no land link to Russia and Armenia is surrounded by hostile neighbours. That leaves Iran, and Iran does import oil, but how wise would this decision be politically?
But anyway, let's find the oil first!
