    New Yerevan Buses Mostly Unused

Most of about 250 commuter buses donated by China to Armenia early this year are still standing idle because of what municipal authorities in Yerevan described on Monday as a shortage of qualified drivers.

Most of about 250 commuter buses donated by China to Armenia early this year are still standing idle because of what municipal authorities in Yerevan described on Monday as a shortage of qualified drivers.

The brand new buses were unveiled in Yerevan’s main Republic Square in late March during a high-profile ceremony attended by President Serzh Sarkisian. The Chinese government donation was touted then as a major boost to a modernization of the city’s public transportation system promised by the municipal administration....
Is it really a surprise? They constantly complain that there really is no money, but in reality there is no operational experience in the country. They don't know how to operate a proper transit system, and I am not really sure that your average Hayastansi even would drive the bus.

Its probably because they have deep pockets.

The conventional meaning of having deep pockets implies not being starved of finance to success,

In Armenia it means how much appetite they have to squirrel away through theft, in their "pockets".

      .

Politics is not about the pursuit of morality nor what's right or wrong
Its about self interest at personal and national level often at odds with the above.
Great politicians pursue the National interest and small politicians personal interests

        .
It's true. It's hard to believe they're looking for outside money for a lot of these infrastructure projects, seeing how Armenia has a central bank and its own currency.

Theyre re looking for dollars to launder their dirty ass money.

This fuels your statement with the fact that our currency is one of the best in the region.

They could create an "Armenian Development Bank" then print about a billion dollars worth of Drams to deposit into the Bank. They can then use that amount to finance all the solar, wind, highway they need.

In fact, for roads, hydropower, and irrigation, these retards are spending money on! Just create a regiment similar to US Army Corps of Engineers and use these draftees to build all the roads in Armenia.

                • The heart and soul of our people is outside Yerevan.

We are not a one city state.

If we can store ( more like hide ) 250 busses for five years ...... that's in Yerevan.

This was a interesting watch in many ways but notice how in the end it is just simply trying to make China look bad while in reality it is achieving some great things and improving the lives of people who need it the most. This source obviously has a political agenda and is not even trying to hide it. Beware of drawing conclusions based on such sources.
