Can some of you list any movies related to Armenians or Armenia?
Or some Armenian directors that you have heard of?

I find it difficult to believe that we hardly produce any movies that gain an international recognition.

They had so many movies related to Greeks, Hispanics, Germans and pretty much on each one of the nations in the world, but they hardly have anything on Armenians except for "ARARAT". That caused quite a stir, imagine what would happen if more movies of that sort would be produced? People would then stop confusing Armenia with Romania and Albania (notice how everyone knows of both).

I have yet to see it, but Symphony of Silence, made by an armenian director in Armenia won many many prizes in european conpetitions. I will try to see it soon and tell you about it.

Also, I will see french-armenian Robert Guedigian's "Aram" some time this month, will keep you updated.

Definitely keep me updated! You know I’ve been browsing on the net and found a few others. Have you heard of Don Askarian? He is supposedly compared to Sergei Paradjanov, although I doubt that anyone can obtain that level, Paradjanov is the one and only. I have never seen Askarian’s movies, and pretty much just read on him, he is residing in Germany but was born in Armenia. Check out this site

His movies seem to be very intriguing something to look out for, I just doubt that there is a possibility of renting them, since they are hardly considered media stream. It’s very obvious why we don’t know any films that expose Armenians; it is not for the lack of them it is due to the poor or non-existent marketing.

Try to do some search and list what you came across. It’s interesting to know how many of them are out there. And then we will try to come up with a plan of changing this whole course of exposure, let’s come up with a strategy to reveal our achievements and have our distinguished Armenians recognized. I was thinking of bringing this issue up at the ASA meeting, but first I need the facts.

Well, here's an article from groong. No idea if the movie's any good though. And one that was really famous in Yerevan lately was Micheal Poghosyan's Yerevan Jan. Didn't see that either..... :?

SOS SARKISIAN: NEW FILM OF KHOREN ABRAHAMIAN SHOCKED ME

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 2, ARMENPRESS: "The new film of Khoren Abrahamian
shocked me. Seems that I again went back to the world, where I grew
up, to the art and atmosphere, in which I was brought up. It's a
film, created by great Armenian artist", said USSR People's Artist
Sos Sarkisian, speaking to Armenpress reporter after the premiere of
a new film by Khoren Abrahamian "To See And To Die" at "Moscow"
        cinema.
The film is based on the drama "I Want To Act In Film", written by
American well-known dramatist Nil Simon but the events are
transferred to Armenia. In order to get an agreement of the dramatist
to use his work as a scenario for a film, Khoren Abrahamian searched
for the dramatist in the United States. The film was shot during six
        years.
After the premiere the audience gave Abrahamian and other actors a
standing ovation and before it Abrahamian met with the reporters.
"This film was shot having an aim to oppose the violated standards of
cinema. Today we live in a flood of films against which I struggle,
though from time to time good works appear. We will get lost in case
we stop this struggle. And the second concern of mine is the threat
endangering presently our actors' school", he said. Khoren Abrahamian
expressed hope that the audience will love this film, which displays
our life with all its difficulties faced during the last decade.
