Why are xxxish groups so dismissive of the suffering of others?

Question is, why are xxxish organizations, groups, and even individuals, who are so aware of xxxish suffering in history, so dismissive and ignorant (?) of that of others. I am speaking in particular of the Armenian genocide, which the likes of Bernard Lewis and Shimon Peres dismiss, as well as the genocide of Serbs in WWII Croatia, which Elie Wiesel and Madeleine Albright dismiss (she was a refugee in Belgrade and then bombed them), as well as the genocide of all other groups in WWII. 25 million Russian Christians were killed in the war and they are described as "others". What about hundreds of thousands of Gypsies killed by the Nazis?

Is this attitude politically-rooted (Israeli interests) or a result of bigotry/racism?
