    interesting developments...

    New tandem Azerbaijan-Iran-Turkey?

Azerbaijani, Turkish and Iranian Foreign Ministers will meet in Tehran, stated Iran’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohammad Baqer Bahrami, Azg daily writes.

According to him, regional, international issues, as well as bilateral relations between the states will be the focus at the meetings. The Ambassador also stressed the Foreign Ministers will discuss regional security issues.

Such a meeting is of great interest, particularly in terms of creation of a trade zone on the border junction of Nakhchivan, Turkey and Iran. Taking into account prospects for discussion of security issues and that Turkey is likely to come forward with this initiative, it may be concluded Turkey tries to give Iran an opportunity to play a role in the initiatives with Armenia.

Amid improvement of Turkey-Iran relations, intensification of relations between Iran and other countries may bring about interesting developments. In any case, the trilateral meeting may be a start of initiatives,” the source says.

        Georgia recognized Karabakh?

        December 02, 2010 | 18:59
In an information directory for international call rates of the Georgian company “SILKNET”, Nagorno-Karabakh is shown separately with its own code. Thus, users wishing to make call to Nagorno-Karabakh Republic are offered to dial a certain code, even though, Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh have the same code (374).

Speech by President Serzh Sargsyan at the summit of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe

          Dear President Nazarbayev,
          Madam President,
          Ladies and Gentlemen,

The meeting of Heads of States of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe can be regarded as special: it is the first summit of the OSCE in the 21st century and the first - the former Soviet Union. I congratulate Kazakh colleagues, and personally, Nursultan Nazarbayev to the active presidency, performed at a high level summit.

Residing in the OSCE nations with hope and expectation of watching a full application of the principles contained in the Helsinki Final Act. Among them - the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, which can also be expected to perform these same principles and obligations are universal, regardless of country size, population and natural resources.

Nagorno-Karabakh region in September 1991 declared its independence, and after that in December of that year's referendum on the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh, which is fully consistent with international law and the legislation of the Soviet Union. As a result, the ensuing collapse of the USSR on the territory of the former Azerbaijani SSR was formed two equal public education - The Republic of Azerbaijan and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.

In response to a part of Azerbaijan and the policy of ethnic cleansing waged against self-determined-Karabakh in 1992, armed aggression, Nagorno-Karabakh - an unrecognized, but a legitimate state, for the salvation faced the threat of destruction of the people had to resort to self-defense, which fully complies with international law.

Not reached by military means expulsion of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan was forced in May 1994 signed a tripartite ceasefire agreement on Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia. The truce could be the beginning to establish a lasting peace in the region, meeting the interests of the peoples.

But Azerbaijan past 16 years under the cover of talks, despite the efforts of the Minsk group, used for the preparation of a new military adventure. In Baku believe that a causal link Karabakh conflict is forgotten. When today Azerbaijan speaks about the need to return under the control of self-defense army of Nagorno-Karabakh territory, he forgets that it is impossible to eliminate the consequences of aggression is unleashed, not liquidated at the same time the very cause of the conflict.

          Ladies and Gentlemen,

Azerbaijan - the only one I know of a country on the European continent, which proudly says to double its military budget. Against violations of punctuated allowable limits of conventional arms in Europe is not only not taken the necessary steps, but is selling this type of weapons, including Member States and the OSCE. All this is seasoned with openly anti-Armenian Azerbaijani leadership speeches, appeals, sowing hatred, aggression and violence. Things reached the point that officials of Azerbaijan did not miss an opportunity to say that the Armenian capital Yerevan is located in the so-called "historical Azerbaijani lands." A recent UNESCO disputed copyright on cross-stone - a masterpiece of Armenian Christian art, and insisted that the cross-stone - it is nothing like a sample of Azerbaijani art. One can only wonder why, in this case, only five years ago, was so savagely destroyed one of the major monuments of this art - the medieval Armenian cemetery of Jugha, with thousands of cross-stones, on which place to build a military training ground.

Incidentally, this is already in our days, in Nakhichevan, which has a part of Azerbaijan is the highest level of autonomy, was the culmination of a long and consistent policy of total destruction of Armenian cultural heritage.

          Dear Colleagues,

Azerbaijan's attempts to pull out, threatening to force unilateral concessions, not only are doomed to fail, but continue to remain a major obstacle to resolving the problem through compromise. And the last one week, I again realized that at this stage of Azerbaijan is not interested in solving the problem of Nagorno-Karabakh. Its sole purpose - to cause maximum harm to Armenia.

Armenia can not accept option resumption of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. In the event of renewed military aggression by Azerbaijan, Armenia will have no choice but to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh Republic de jure and make every opportunity to ensure the safety of the people of Artsakh.

Nagorno-Karabakh has no future as part of Azerbaijan, and whatever the decision, it should come just from the will of the people of Karabakh. This is the essence of self. Azerbaijan has neither legal nor political, nor a moral basis for claims of the Nagorno-Karabakh.

          Dear Colleagues,

OSCE summit itself is very important for the future work of the organization. I want to underline the great contribution which has the presidency of the OSCE countries - Kazakhstan, in fact, to make this long-awaited meeting reality and hold it high.

          Thank you.

Russian media: Baku keeps demonstrating obvious political impotence
            December 3, 2010 - 17:47 AMT 13:47 GMT
PanARMENIAN.Net - Recently, Azeri leader Ilham Aliyev has been facing a number of difficulties because of WikiLeaks’ release of secret cables. According to Segodnia.ru, President Aliyev’s statements on Turkey greatly harmed the image of Baku as the main friend of Istanbul in the region, which can’t but affect the course of Karabakh conflict settlement.

“Azerbaijan, having suffered a humiliating defeat in a struggle for Karabakh, probably seeks to compensate its territorial and psychological losses. Referring to the Azerbaijan of late 80s –early 90s, one could recall other ethnic clashes as well. It was then that an active campaign for the expulsion of Russians, xxxs and Greeks from Caucasus was waged, with people fleeing from Georgia and Azerbaijan,” the article said.

Dwelling on Armenia’s position, the article author states, “Armenian enclave suddenly found itself as a part of Azerbaijan, through Bolshevik policy, which intentionally left small ethnic enclaves inside monolithic republics. In reality, Karabakh Armenians will never live as a part of Azerbaijan, no matter how much Bakuwants it. However, instead of searching for ways to compromise and resolve the situation so as to ''save face'', Azerbaijan insists on its right for territorial integrity, clearly forgetting about international law principle of the nations' right for self-determination. People of Artsakh, as NKR Armenians call their state, has confirmed its determination to either exist as an independent state, or, at least, as a part of Armenia.

Yet, the author continues, Baku keeps demonstrating its political impotence: instead of bargaining with Armenia for its territories, currently serving as a buffer between NKR and Azerbaijan, as well as putting forward other, legal and accomplishable conditions to NKR and Yerevan, Baku continues with its militaristic statements.

''Should Azerbaijan expect Russia's intervention in case of the outbreak of a war? Clearly, it should. Although Moscow and Baku share a number of common interests and agreements, specifically in gas and petroleum production and transportation, Moscow and Yerevan have agreements in military sector,'' the author concludes.

Baku presents book by Ramiz Mehdiyev (PHOTO)03.12.2010 16:46

              Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 3 / Trend M. Aliyev /

The presentation of the book, "Goris-2010: Season of the Theater of the Absurd," by philosopher and academic, Presidential Administration head Ramiz Mehdiyev, was held today at the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

"The broad audience reading "Goris-2010: Season of the Theater of the Absurd" will see that the statements made by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan in Goris are unthinkable lies and falsifications," ANAS President Mahmud Karimov said at the presentation.

In his recent article of the same title, Mehdiyev responds to Sargsyan's recent disclosure of "new discoveries" using irrefutable historical facts, Karimov said.

Mehdiyev's article was republished by the East-West Publishing House as a book containing additional materials. The book cites myriad historical and factual sources and maps from the ancient and contemporary periods. This increases the scientific value of the book as a reliable source for readers, Karimov stressed.

According to the ANAS president, the book offers evidence that the Armenian people are alien not only to the South Caucasus, but rather to all of Asia Minor.

Karimov noted that the book highlights the scientific methods used by Armenia to rename places bearing Azerbaijani names.

"The book states that the area where present-day Armenia is located was once Azerbaijan's," he said.

ANAS History Institute Director Yagub Mahmudov said the work is a new beginning in the fight against the Armenian propaganda. He noted that work is underway to translate the book into both English and Russian.

Meanwhile, ANAS Oriental Studies Institute Director Govhar Bakhshaliyeva said Mehdiyev's book is rich with references to reliable historical sources.

Mehdiyev's book is of vital importance not only in terms of its response to Armenian duplicity, but also in terms of the author's reflections on historical facts, his analysis of the causes and consequences of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and his insight into the political processes taking place in the region over the past 200 years.

The book is a must-read for political scientists and Caucasus scholars, and, in particular, conflict experts in different regions of the world. The work refers to numerous scientific sources - from Herodotus to Strabon - and also intimately acquaints readers with the OSCE Minsk Group.

Mehdiyev noted that Sargsyan, who legitimacy as a president is currently being questioned even by the Armenian public, made harsh statements at the Goris Theater, which reflect his low level of personal culture and education.

Mehdiyev rightly sees similarities between Sargsyan's duplicitous statements and the statements the leaders of the Third Reich. Drawing a parallel, he writes that 70 years ago, similar statements were made of the superiority of the Aryan race by German scientists and the leader of the Third Reich. Everyone knows that talks about the superiority of one nation over another lead to grave misfortune, he writes. Unfortunately, the leaders of today's Armenia are taking their people in the same disastrous direction and have not learned their lesson from recent history, Mehdiyev concludes.

seriously? do they think before talking? aliyev keeps claiming his nation is more superior then Armenia, this paragraph is basically describing him. they say Sargsyan's speeches reflect his low level of culture and education? aliyev repeats the same ignorant thing everywhere he goes. these azeris are mentally challenged people.

Ilham Aliyev has virtual wife – firstladyaze account appears on Twitter

                December 03, 2010 | 14:57

After WikiLeaks disclosed confidential cables concerning Azerbaijani leader and his surroundings, a new account presenting itself as that of Azerbaijani First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, appeared on Twitter (@ firstladyaze), Global Voice reported.

“I can’t believe they compare Ilham Aliyev with Mafia. They should look through the statistics how Azerbaijan developed during his presidency,” reads the first message.

Twitter users did not hesitate to respond to this remark. The user nicknamed @TuralAhmedzadeh wrote, “Of course they compare Ilham to the mafia. The mafia makes a lot of money as well. Development doesn’t clear his name”.

The next to answer was @Azer_Cafarov: “the statistics how developed Azerbaijan absolutely rubbish: there’s just rise of oil output and prices there are not significant developments going on, just each year thousands more citizens leaving country: NO JOBS!”

According to the Global Voice, tweets from alleged first lady’s account continued, “Our aim is to develop Azerbaijan into a democratic, legal and secular country. I think we achieved it.”

It also aroused protest among Twitter bloggers. Thus, @SahileAslanova said, “Do you at least believe in what you write? ))”

Then, the @firstladyaze accused WikiLeaks of purposely targeting Azerbaijan, “Those who want to make strife in Azerbaijan will never succeed as our nation believe in their powerful leader.”

@TuralAhmedzadeh again responded: “who belongs to our nation? Does that include Isa Gambar and the opposition? The only strife is caused by the Aliyev mafia.”

However, the author notes that the authenticity of the account has to be verified.

                      Explanation dialogue Aliyev with Abiyev
As it became known editorial Voskanapat.info, at the residence of the President of Azerbaijan passed a very narrow meeting, attended by President Aliyev and the Azerbaijani Defense Minister Safar Abiyev. "Third" at this meeting was a "bug" - tap - ably attached to the suit Abiyev. We offer our readers a recorded conversation in the exact translation is not quite right with the Azerbaijani language of the president and minister of this republic.
Aliyev. Listen, Safar, things we do are bad. Sarkissian totally did not think to give us Karabakh. In Astana, he kept a very proudly, and even threatened us. Negotiations have lost meaning, now know this not only we, but the whole world. It remains to war, but to be honest, I do not want to fight.
                      Abiyev. Me too.
IA: You shut up and listen.
                      SA: Play!
IA: Yes, you shut up, I said. You tell me this: can we win the war? I am embarrassed that my father, Heydar Aliyev, a great lost to these Armenians. But he had the wisdom in time to apologize to stop the war and save us 80 percent. But what about us? I'm afraid if the war fails, this time the Armenians do not believe our tears and vows. Do you think they can get to Baku? Only you, the old fox, answer honestly.
SA: Mister Chief and President! I swear on my honor ...
IA: Where did you get the honor, tsiap? You do not even know what it is. You're an ordinary thief who steals not only the soldiers but me. You steal even more than I do! And now you dare to talk about honor. Answer honestly and directly, we are able to win the new war?
SA: Mister Chief and President! Our armed forces under your command are capable of a sensitive one week fully master-Karabakh, and within two weeks, we will take Yerevan. We have for this is the necessary equipment that you bought for the armed forces of Azerbaijan. In addition, I report that the military skill of our soldiers under your command and sensitive attention when First Lady of Azerbaijan, the great lady Mehriban, is growing every day. If we start a war in a month, we will be able to liberate Karabakh from Armenian three days. If you, Mr. Chief and President, give us three months to prepare, then we can take Karabakh within three hours.
IA: Well done, good answer. Just remember, tsiap unhappy, not Yerevan, Irawan! Hence, if we will attack today, a week later in Karabakh will not be no Armenians?
SA: That's right, Mr. Chief and President! For one week-Karabakh, and in three weeks we will take Yerevan, that is, Irawan. And all of Armenia.
IA: Again, tsiap, incorrectly saying. Not Armenia, but Iravanskoe Khanate! These are our lands of Azerbaijan, and it is our duty to free them. Do you understand me?
SA: That's right, Mr. Chief and President! Although I am not a Turk, but always ready to loyally serve the great ideals of the great Caucasian Turks. And again, I promise and swear to you that in three weeks Iravanskoe Khanate fall at the feet of the great Ilham Aliyev.
IA: And what are your plans for this war? I was a child watching a movie about the war, and well versed in tactics and strategy of military affairs.
SA: Tactics and strategy we have one: attack, attack, attack! And then to advance, under the command of your sensitive erasing everything in its path. If we start to attack today, the new year we can meet in Iravane. But it's better somewhere nearby, because Irawan we want to completely obliterate.
IA: That's good. Only you, tsiap, order that the maternity home № 2 Iravane not touched. There was born my grand mother and a prominent ophthalmologist, Z. Aliyeva. We are there posiavim majestic monument: on the background of the destroyed Irawan proudly my mother.
SA: Will be done, Mr President and Chief! I have some idea if you let it. We will turn this maternity home in the sanctuary of the Ulu Bibi Khanum, and force all the Muslims of Azerbaijan perform hajj there.
IA: Well done! Great idea. Ulu Bibi Khanum! Is that you came up perfectly. Go get ready. Two days later, go on the offensive. New Year in Iravane, kneeling in front of Ulu Bibi Khanum! This will now be our watchword.
SA: Yes, Mr. Chief and President! Let me go!?
IA: Wait. Answer another question. How well armed the Armenians, and how do they know how to fight?
SA: They are poorly armed, and worse still at war, Mr. President, and Chief! They have only a few hundred of the old tanks, which they have taken from us, a few dozen Grad ", which the Armenians craftily stolen from us.
IA: And they all have been stolen? What are the exact figures.
SA: Yes, Mr. Chief and President! During the war the Armenians craftily stolen from us 169 T-72 tanks, 41 T-55 tanks, 204 armored vehicles BMP-1 and BMP-2, BRDM and BTR, 29 Grad ", 187 mortars of various calibers, 92 guns of various calibres, a Su-25, tens of thousands of small arms. Moreover, the Armenians stole our 12,000 wagons of munitions, including ...
IA: That's enough, shut up. And how did you escape?
SA: Mister Chief and President! It really was a feat of which I tell our grandchildren! After their Seyran Ohanian was wounded in the leg away from him could only the bravest. But today they are with us no longer cope. With your unprecedented generosity, we now have other weapons.
IA: So you say, a week cope?
SA: That's right, Mr. Chief and President!
IA: Excellent! I give you 30 days. Going to live here, and to command here. But if after 30 days, we will not be Stephen. That is, in Khankendi, I will shoot you.
SA: (Judging by the clatter, fell to his knees). Mister Chief and President! Excuse me! I - a cheap and stupid yap bouncer. We're not ready for war. I need a little more prepared. Please give me three months. I promise ... I swear to the great Ulu Bibi Khanum, and my simple publicly mum ...
IA: I knew it. Get out, tsiap! And remember: if I know what you're once again climbed into my pocket, I will start a war. And you will send to the front line commander of the regiment.
SA: (Judging by the sound, crawled on his knees). Thank you, Mr. Chief and President! I understood everything. I will not. I swear by the great Ulu Bibi Khanum, and my simple publicly mum. No need to fight. Us so well. Your 80 percent, I pledge to pay up to the last kopecks. Just do not fight. Otherwise we will lose everything. And your 80 percent, and my small business from the remaining percent.
IA: Know myself tsiap! Therefore, do not start until the war. Get out! No, come back! How much did you say you fall to the military budget? 20 percent? Will now be 15. The rest is sent to the Fund purchasing houses in Dubai for Heydar Aliyev. Young, stupid! The older we just put monuments. We must think about living. Now everything. Get out of here.
