What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

If the Georgians have arrested the guy then how come no Armenian website is posting anything about this. They are just lying, like you said trying to drive a wedge in Armenian-Georgian relations. Their entire history is fake, what do you expect? All dedicated Diasporans who are committed for the Freedom of Armenia and are willing to do something about it must prepare themselves physically and psychologically to do all they can in an imminent defensive war………………on what could be literally Armenia’s last stand.

You're quite right, but before that we should see to it that our President doesn't sign out any of our Artsaxs' lands. Those lands were ours and we won them lately with our men's blood. We WON the war! Those azeris cannot claim it... it isn't theirs, it has never been theirs and it shall never be theirs!

Bryza makes public believe in inevitability of returning NKR
12.05.2009 18:00 GMT+04:00 Print version Send to mail

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ OSCE MG Co-Chair Matthew Bryza’s wrong predictions and official Washington’s subsequent statements on NKR conflict settlement principles are interrelated with each other, Armenian political scientist Sergey Shakaryants says. “The fact that US insists that NKR-surrounding territories be returned and Azeri refugees be resettled in their former residences, and forgets about Armenian refugees is a campaign aimed at extorting unilateral concessions from Armenia and NKR.”

Shakaryan finds that “Ekho Moskvy” radio station’s recent report on “step-by-step return of NKR and NKR-surrounding territories” was made on purpose. All that reflects Washington’s position on NKR; it’s an attempt to make public believe in inevitability of such outcome.

Today Armenia has extremely scarce resources for making political maneuvers, that’s why it is attempting to hold positions that can no longer be avoided, the political scientist says, referring at the same time to the statement of Arpi Vardanyan, ANCA director of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh offices. Ms. Vardabyan believes Karabakh to be the last defense barrier not be conceded NKR authorities.

Has US started too exert pressure on Armenia?
12.05.2009 17:35 GMT+04:00 Print version Send to mail

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Even though Armenia expressed satisfaction with outcomes of Parague Summit, the negotiations may be considered an absolute failure, political scientis Sergey Shakaryants said, referring at the same time to French Foreign Minister’s statement that no breakthrough was achieved since parties held contrary views on key issues. “As shown by Yerevan and Ankara's subsequent statements, the key question was NKR status,” Armenian political scientist said.

Mr. Shakaryants finds that US attempt to break military assistance parity between Armenia and Azerbaijan and decision to suspend funding NKR right after the Prague Summit seems suspicious. The US is simply exerting pressure upon Armenia by forcing it to agree to the “suspended status and to return territories surrounding NKR,” Mr. Shakryants says. “The US in the meantime makes it clear that the only party refusing to acknowledge NKR's status beyond Azerbaijani borders is Washington. France and Russia are going to recognize NKR in the near future, however, they still refrain from making drastic steps in that direction.”

The way Armenia sees it is that people who have nothing make claims. the claims they make are so idiotic that no response is needed. let them claim whatever they want, you know the turth (azerbaijan came into existence in 1991), i know the truth (Artsakh and Nakichevan were given to turkey by stalin), everyone knows the truth, except azerbaijan.
Let them claim as much as they want, do you think anyone takes them seriously? a while back aliyev went to the EU demanding the return of Yerevan, which apparently is historic azeri land, and he was laughed out of the EU. Only azeris would claim another countries capital. to be honest i doubt everything they say.

Bravo Mr. Karapetyan! I am reading articles like this one more and more starting with the Karen Vrtanesyan one. Are the Armenian people going to wake up en masse in time?
                ---------------------------------------------------------------
Samvel Karapetyan: “Armenians are a landless people resembling gypsies”

At a press conference held today, Armenian architecture specialist Samvel Karapetyan, and civic government expert Hasmik Melikyan, raised a number of concerns regarding the lack of attention paid by the Armenian government in response to Azeri demands that lands “captured” by the Armenians must be returned and that cultural monuments on those lands are not Armenian but Turkish, Aghvan or Azeri.

Mr. Karapetyan pointed out that in 2007 Aziz Alakbarli, a Azeri author, published a book in which Armenia is depicted as “Western Azerbaijan” and Armenian cultural monuments as Azeri or of Aghvan origin. He said the book was financed by the Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and thus presented the official Azeri point of view.

He stated that the book contained hundreds of references and despite being inaccurate it still makes a lasting impression on readers who are unaware of the facts. “We must come to grips with this issue. When the author portrays the Gandzasar Monestery as Aghvan and seemingly backs up that claim with a huge number of references, Armenians can’t ignore such books. In the past few years the Azeris have invented a new phrase, “Western Azerbaijan”. It is used in place of Armenia. Azeri websites and the press use this new term, not Armenia. We might find it laughable that the book’s cover features the temple of Garni, but in 10-20 years down the road, we won’t be laughing so much,” Mr. Karapetyan stated.

Hasmik Melikyan noted that the book, translated into several languages, was featured at last year’s international book exhibition in Frankfurt and that it caused an uproar with the local Armenian community. “Photo captions in the book present Garni as “Gerni”, a Turkish religious site. Etchmiadzin is portrayed as a joint Turkish-Armenian constructed Christian church. The name Armenia is placed in parentheses. Armenians are depicted as some wandering tribe of migrants that settled here and took over their monuments. The first page of the book has a picture of the Aliyevs, father and son. They are well aware of all this,” stated Mrs. Melikyan.

Mr. Karapetyan stated that the book had been copied and was selling in Yerevan six months ago. He personally took a copy to Hasmik Poghosyan, the Minister of Culture, and to the foreign minister. He said that Deputy of Minister of Urban Construction Narek Sargsyan even has a copy. “Only Narek Sargsyyan showed any concern and wanted to take concrete action in response. Hasmik Poghosyan reacted with stone silence, no reaction at all.”

In response to the Azeri book, Ruben Ghaletchyan’s “Azerbaijan, Armenia and the showcasing of imagination” was published this year. It depicts the destruction of Armenian culture by Azerbaijan. The English translation of this work was sponsored by former National Assembly President Tigran Torosyan.

Mr. Karapetyan believes that the Azeri book was to be expected and that Armenians have themselves to blame.

“What did we do when the Turks erased Jugha off the face of the earth? A crime was committed but did our government bring the case to trial in any international court of law? Only one organization, the “Western Armenia National Council”, an NGO, brought a court case and that only after much delay. Naturally, when our government does nothing in response, such consequences are to be expected,” stated Mr. Karapetyan.

Mr. Karapetyan asserts that all this stems from a lack of national interest shown by Armenians. It is his opinion that since there is no national society there can be no talk of possessing a national polity. When the issue to be tackled is a national one, Armenians are absent. This, in his view, is why we are on the retreat.

Mr. Karapetyan stated, “We have become estranged from our land and our water. Negotiations are underway about the territories; they are placing preconditions on the table. It’s been twenty years since Northern Artsakh has been emptied of Armenians. Our political leaders haven’t come to the negotiating table with a book entitled “Northern Artsakh”. We have already conceded on Northern Artsakh, what other concessions can we make? If we were really concerned about those lands we would have already raised the matter. The Azeris are constantly beating the drums about Kelbajar and Latchin and their TV programs are filled with broadcasts about the country. Their conversation is focused on the issue of land.”

“We are a people without land. Armenians believe they can scatter to the four corners of the globe and survive. We resemble gypsies more than anything. There are more Armenians in other countries then there are gypsies. This is a path leading to destruction and is the basis for our defeats. Even Vardan Mamikonyan, at the Battle of Avarayr, fought in the name of the cross, and not for the sake of the land,” noted Mr. Karapetyan.

Georgian reporter Paata Zakareishvili said such accusation against Armenians is so absurd that no one pays attention to it in Georgia. “There’s no Azerbaijani investigative group in the country. These are false stories ivented by the Azeri press,” Mr. Zakareishvili stressed, adding that no one in Georgia was going to comment on such obvious lie.
That's regarding the supposed Armenian responsible in the baku shooting.

When will Baku start searching for “Armenian trace” in alleged terrorist act in Moscow?
                  13.05.2009 22:06 GMT+04:00
/PanARMENIAN.Net/ On the day of the Eurovision contest’s first semfinal, FSB agents managed to avert a terrorist act plotted by unknown gunmen. Not far from “Olympic” sport complex, security officials found a polyethelene package containing 6 bullets (calibre: 9 mm). The incident occurred a few hours before the start of the contest. The singers were to make their entrance at 23:00p.m. Moscow time, while the ammunition was found at 19:30 p.m.

It’s noteworthy, that a few days before the concert, Day.az predicted such developments, announcing that no terrorist act could be allowed during Eurovision 2009 contest. According to the Azerbaijani news site, “the Armenians who launched terrorist act in Moscow can now anticipate deteroriation in speedily developing Russian-Turkish ties”.

Similarly, the Azeri press found “Armenian trace” in the gunshot of students in Baku Oil Academy. Particularly, Bakililar.az disseminated information that “Georgian law enforcement agencies and special services identified the Armenian who aided Farda Gadirov in plotting the conspiracy. Law enforces are now undertaking measures to arrest the conspirator. In that connection, Azerbaijani Interior Ministry has set up a special group in Georgia.

As reported by Paata Zakareishvili, such accusation against Armenians is so absurd that no one pays attention to it in Georgia. “There’s no Azerbaijani investigative group in the country. These are false stories ivented by the Azeri press,” Mr. Zakareishvili stressed, adding that no one in Georgia was going to comment on such obvious lie.

President of Azerbaijan: “Armenians used their right of self-determination when they established the state of Armenia”

                    [ 14 May 2009 19:53 ]
Baku – APA. “There are various approaches and evaluation of the situation. Some people think that we are close to the agreement and others claimed that there is a huge work to be done.

Regarding the negotiations, I valued it as a process going in positive direction, the progress was achieved in some issues of the agreement, but it was not possible several years ago. But this progress is not enough for the settlement of the conflict or achieving the agreement”, said President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in his meeting with the members of the US Council on Foreign Relations answering their question about the current situation of the negotiations over the peaceful settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorny Karabakh conflict.

The president said 17 years have passed since the establishing of OSCE Minsk Group, but there is no result yet. “The situation remains as it was earlier. Our lands are under the occupation. Seven regions outside the administrative borders of Nagorny Karabakh were occupied by the Armenians. Nearly one million Azerbaijanis became refugees and internally displaced persons as a result of ethnic cleansing policy of Armenia and this situation continues to remain that.

Regarding the settlement of the conflict, it must be resolved on the strong basis of the norms of international law. The conflict must be resolved only and only on the basis of the norms of international law. UN Security Council adopted four resolutions demanding unconditional withdrawal of Armenian forces from the occupied lands. The international community recognized the fact of occupation of our lands. The territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was internationally recognized and supported. The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs made several statements on the protection of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. When Azerbaijan became the member of the United Nations, this organization recognized its territorial integrity.

I want to say about the right of self-determination, which Armenia intends to use as an argument, that Armenians already used this right when they established the state of Armenia. If it is based on their logic, many Armenian states should be established all over the world.

This is a wrong approach. We have always drawn Armenia’s attention to the Helsinki Final Act in the talks. This final act obviously reflects the items of on inviolability of territorial integrity and self-determination rights: self-determination cannot violate the principles of internationally-recognized territorial integrity of any state. Therefore, the conflict must be regulated on the basis of the international legal norms and it will allow the restoration of our territorial integrity and make Armenians and Azerbaijanis live in peace in Nagorny Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.

Observers said Armenian reacted to Western Union’s decision at Azerbaijan’s request.
RIA Novosti quoted the central bank as saying Western Union violated the terms of agreements with Armenian banks by not making available services to the local banks’ branches in the Nagorno Karbakh.
Illegally occupied by Armenia, the Nagorno Karabakh area is an internally recognized territory of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan’s central bank gave green light to local banks to resume operations with payment transfer company Western Union and its smaller peer MoneyGram after the both companies promised to discontinue money transfer transactions with the occupied territories of Azerbaijan through Armenia.
Azerbaijan blocked Western Union and MoneyGram on July 30 and renewed clearance for money transfers through these systems on August 14.

Why should many Armenian's have to suffer the consequence of not being able to use Western Union of yet another un Democratic act just because of Armenia's enemy Azerbaijan has requested Western Union to refuses to provide services to Nagorno Karabakh? Armenian's should have the right to decide what Internet sites they decide to go on and should be allowed to exercise their free rights in accessing that service in whatever it may be as long as its within legal means e.g. no child exploitation material. This is disappointing. This attempts to undermine world Democracy, I hope that other countries like Armenia can embrace the true Democratic model the effects of Democracy and ensure that effort to enclasp that Democracy will be reached by all levels of the countries citizens and not just the top oligarchs controlling half
